The City of Iqaluit Recreation Department is working to make accessing information,schedules and bookings easier and more user friendly. I would like to welcome ElisapeeIpeelie, our new Recreation Department Receptionist to the Team. She will be workingout of the newly built Customer Service Centre in the Arctic Winter Games Lobby.Turaarvik Customer Service Centre is open Monday-Friday from 1:00-5:30 P.M. Pleasedrop by or contact Elisapee to book recreation facilities and equipment and to accessthe latest information on upcoming recreation department events and programs.Reception services are available in both English and Inuktitut.Recreation Reception: 975-8544E-mail atrecreation@city.iqaluit.nu.ca.

Canteen Opening Soon at AWG -Volunteers Needed!
Feeling cold at the arena and need a hot chocolate?Thirsty after a hard skate and need something to nourish your tired body?Getting hungry while watching your kid play hockey?
 
The
R.E.A.C.H. Fundraising Committee
is in the process of setting up to re-open thecanteen in the lobby of the AWG arena. The canteen will operate on weeknights andweekends. There will be regular hours posted. Hours may be extended for specialevents.If you would like to volunteer at the AWG canteen, please sign upat the Turaarvik Customer Service Centre in the AWG Lobbyor contact

Outdoor Rinks
The outdoor skating rinks are in full swing and have beengetting plenty of use lately!
There are 4 locations this season, and they are
:- Outside Nakasuk School, beside the parking lot- Outside Aqsarniit Middle School- On the plateau, on the basketball court- In Apex, beside the playground areaSupervised skates will take place on the Easter break inApril. Outside of that, all skating on the outdoor rinks isunsupervised.We would also like to remind you that helmets are highlyrecommended, and to use caution whenever you areskating or playing on the ice. Be safe and have fun!
SnowTubing!
This is a great winter activity that everyone can enjoy.Come and have fun on the slopes!This will take place on
Saturday, March 19th
.Please remember to dress warmly!!*
Note: This activity is dependent onweather, and there is a contingency planof street hockey if necessary.
Skating @ the AWG arena
Fridays from 4:00-5:00P.M.Saturdays from 8:30-9:30P.M(remember to bring your skates)

The Arctic Winter Games complex will be hosting the
Bantam Hockey Territorial’s on March 18
-21
. Variousteams from Nunavut will be attending this tournament.
Other upcoming tournaments dates are:
Senior Men’s Hockey tournament
- April 14-17IAHA Minor Hockey tournament - April 21-24Old Timers Sikitu Cup - April 29-May 1Come on out to the arena and watch some excitinghockey action!
*Please note that some of the regular ice programs at the AWGwill be relocated to the Arnaitok arena on these dates, and othersmay need to be cancelled.
