Melakarta ragas are alsoknown as sampoorna ragas as they contain all seven swaras(notes) o the octave in both the ascending and the descendingmode. Tere are 72 melakarta ragas.Te melakarta system o ragas was rst propounded by Raamamaatya in his work Svaramelakalanidhi c. 1550. He isconsidered the ather o the mela system o ragas. Later inthe 17
