This is the abbey in St Albans. The reason I shall use

this in my product is because it fits the conventions
of a dark comedy, with my particular piece about a
character seeking redemption following committing
a murder. because it is
a place where people go to be forgiven and
cleansed of their sins, something the character
wishes to do.

Sound:

Possible sound includes the sound of civilians walking around, talking and engaging in conversation.
However, because filming will take place at night, the sound shall be minor, allowing better filming.

Echoes within the church will also be heard, but this can be used to show the unstable state of mind
of the antagonist, the uncertainty he now feels in his life.

The howl of the wind will probably be heard due to the time of the year, yet this can add more
intensity to the opening scene.

Health and Safety:

Due to the fact filming shall be taking place at night, it is extremely important to be extra safe,
cautious, and to be in company with others.

In the dark, I will have to bring an item of lighting in which to see where I am going, despite the
setting itself providing light in which I shall be filming in.

I shall have to make sure not to bump into any civilians when going about my filming. In order to
prevent this I shall cautiously walk around them to avoid them, and use cones to seal off any
designated filming areas.

Any trip hazards shall be identified, and if possible, removed from the scene. This is the same with
litter. If the hazard cannot be removed, I will move accordingly to prevent damaging myself or the
equipment.

Similarly, any dangerous natural hazards should again be identified, if something may fall from
above. These shall be dealt with by avoiding them.

The camera shall be protected from any water. If necessary, waterproof appliances shall be wrapped
around the equipment, making sure not to protect the lens so filming can proceed.

When filming, we must wear suitable outdoor footwear to prevent injury.

It would be foolish to eat or drink. Litter may be accidentally dropped, and would distract us from
filming. Our full attentions have to be focused on filming.
Lighting:

The Abbey shall be well lit at night. The place itself shall provide artificial lighting, therefore we shall
be able to see where we are going. Also, all the characters will be visible. The lighting shall create a
darkening atmosphere, perfect for black comedy.

How to get there?

The Abbey is situated perfectly, in St Albans which also where I live. It shall take just one bus to get
there, which shall cost £2.60 for a return.

c !"

This is my house, in St Albans. It fits the conventions of comedy

because it is a normal setting, yet in this case of ͚dark comedy͛
it is a place of sanctuary and safety for
the troubled character.

Health and Safety:

The area has to be well lit. If not then there will be visibility
problems with consequently could result in injury or damage.

Once again, any trip hazards have to be identified and

removed. I shall do this by tidying my house prior to filming.

Eating or drinking is not acceptable, for it may cause a mess that scuppers filming and distracts me
from the job.

I shall have to make sure not to collide with anybody else in the house; therefore I shall make sure the
house is free when filming.

Any housing electronic equipment should be turned off, eg televisions, cd players. This enables the
focus to be solely on the acting and camerawork, and not other sounds that distract focus.

If the camera is held above, then any lighting/ceiling decorations will have to be identified and taken
down or avoided.

Lighting:

Lighting when filming outside of the house shall again be artificial, with the porch light turned on in
order to improve visibility. When filming inside all light will be artificial, therefore not dependent on
the weather that day.

How to get there?

As I live there, this shall not be a problem.
