THE WFB communication
No: CC 07-54Subject: Japan Earthquake and Tsunami 11 March B.E. 2554 (2011)Date: 12 March B.E. 2554 (2011)Originator: PHALLOP THAIARRYSecretary General of The WFBSuggested Distribution: The WFB Office Bearers, Executive Council Members,Regional Centres and their networksDear Friends in the Dharma,
It is with great sadness that I reiterate the words and sentiments of our President, H. E. PhanWannamethee’s address to the people of Japan. As a Thai person and with The WFBHeadquarters based in Bangkok, I, the staff and supporters of The WFB Headquarters alongwith all Thai people are all too aware of the consequences of a massive tsunami. We hadfirsthand experience when an earthquake took place in the Indian Ocean on the 26
December2004 unleashing a catastrophic tsunami that claimed the lives of so many. The sufferings andsorrows still linger in our minds and our empathy with the people of Japan cannot adequately beexpressed in words as they struggle to come to terms with and deal with the immediateaftermath, followed with the logistic complexities of re-establishing order and necessary foods, water, medical assistance and resumption of services and utilities. The task that the Japanese nation faces is truly daunting and the President, H.E. PhanWannamethee and I urge all Regional Centres to draw on their humanitarian reserves to assistin whatever way they are able. When Thailand and other affected countries were in need following the 2004 tsunami, the worldresponded with compassion and practical assistance, it is again time to express our compassionand unity to support our fellow beings to mitigate the effects of this tragedy as swiftly andeffectively as possible. We cannot underestimate the task in hand to rebuild not only thematerial but the lives of those directly and indirectly affected and I appeal to your generosity ofheart and means.Donations to the Humanitarian effort may be made to the following:Beneficiary’s name:
