IN MEMORIAM
THIS WEEKBOOK IS DEDICATED

to the memory of Cadet
Cynthia Scott
of CamarilloComposite Squadron 61. Cynthia was a basic cadet in G Flight, 102nd Cadet Training Squadron, atthe 2005 California/Nevada Joint Encampment. She died in a tragic car accident just nine weeksafter the conclusion of the encampment. Described as “the heart of the ight, and “in love with life”,her ightmates recalled how Cynthia made it her mission to keep everone’s spirits high throughoutencampment. The Cadet Training Group is diminished by her absence, but her spark and
joie devivre
remain with us through the lives she touched.

Encampment graduates:You have now graduated from encampment and are a member of the Cadet Training Group. The encampment training standard is set high, but you met the challenge. Like the 10,000 CTG cadets who went before, you knowthe importance of “attention to detail”, leadership, honor, teamwork and pride in a job well done.We congratulate all the cadets of the 2006 California Wing Encampment. During the past week you advanced your education andtraining and are better cadets and future American leaders for it. We look forward to watching your continued success in the fu-ture.Virginia M. Now you can call yourself a proudmember of the Cadet TrainingGroup. The cadet staff this pastweek has labored their nest ef-forts to teach you what being aCadet is all about. Now is yourchance to put that knowledge togreat use.Hopefully through this, each of you has learned something aboutyourself and about your fellow ca-dets. The lessons you have learnedabout structure, discipline, and at-tention to detail are now skills youcan put to use at your home unitas well as in life.Your opportunity to show whatyou have learned is now in yourown hands. Lead on.

Congratulations, and welcome tothe Cadet Training Group. I chal-lenge you one last time as yourcommander: take the Encamp-ment Standard and make it yourown. It’s not about making yourbed at home with hospital cor-ners. Have the ambition to aimhigh and the guts to walk throughre to get there. Find success be-cause of both.Take what you have showed methis weekattention to detail todo your best work, discipline to al-low nothing less, and the spirit of teamworkand use it in whatev-er you choose to do with your life.Never forget what you’ve donethis week, and that you can do itwith anything else you dream of.
