List of Mixed Bloods of the Menominee Indian Nation
In 1836, the Menominee Indians ceded all their lands between the Wolf and Fox rivers tothe United States Government. Payment was made every October, in 20 annualinstalments on the grounds in the township of Poygan. All their remaining lands wereceded in 1848 and they were offered a reservation in Minnesota, which they refused. In
 
1852, they moved up the Wolf River where in 1854, they were granted eight townships,the present Keshena Reservation.Charles A. Grignon was the U. S. Interpreter for this treaty. He and his family appear inthe listing of Mixed Blood beneficiaries.Robert Grignon had a specific article in the treaty regarding his saw-mill. He and hisfamily also appear in the listing of Mixed Blood beneficiaries.
ARTICLE 9.
It is stipulated that Robert Grignon, who has erected a saw-mill upon theLittle Wolf River, at his own expense, for the benefit and at the request of said Indians, shall have the right of a preemptor to the lands upon which suchimprovements are situated, not exceeding in quantity on both sides of saidriver one hundred and sixty acres.Published by the

– June 28, 1849Notice is hereby given, that, at a council held in Green Bay, the 20th inst., by ThomasWistar, Jr., the Commissioner of the United States for the distribution of the $40,000appropriated by the Congress for the benefit if the mixed blood of the Menonimee Nation- in conjunction with the Chiefs of said Nation, awards in favour of the following personswere agreed upon and declared, that is to say: Fifty dollars to every individual, man,woman, or child, enumerated in the roll prepared by the council: and a further award, tofifty individuals - designated below by an asterisk (*) affixed to their names - of theresidue of the aforesaid $40,000, in equal shares; after the first mentioned awards shallhave been set apart.The Commissioner will be prepared to make payment on the 9th
