Happy New Year everyone!!In the season of new beginnings, we hope this letter
finds you and your loved ones safe and well….and
loved!Loved. Just straight at you-square on-loved.We want to share our hearts with you and what experiences and activities have been occurring here atthe BSU. I hope this letter will do this; that it will be meaningful to you and yours, and you will feel again
like you are “back home” with this community of fo
lks just trying to live out a life in love and loved byChrist. The players may have changed, but the hearts continue to beat for the love of a God who wants
us to know Him…
Our desire among the tribe here for this campus
and for you
an extension of
is thatGod will just blow your hearts apart with His love for you this year
this fresh new year.A BSU conference once told us that we are not #47 on his priority list, or a passing interest, or justsomething He is into for the moment, but that you are so loved by the all-
incredible creator God….and
He has a heart…and in that heart
is a passion…and that passion
! And if you will stay withus here, and pardon the vernacular a little - He is longing for your
love…and He wants you bad!
Before I started writing your letter, I was just reading an email from one of our student leaders sent outto the other students. There was a part that stood out to me; it was this:
Hey I love you
. Hope you are being poured into
by at least one person at the BSU. If you aren't,
LOLZ! Have a good week, kids! You all the bomb!!!
That is exactly where I think we at the BSU are continually finding ourselves
sharing our lives withothers, whether they are peers on a varsity team, helping international students move furniture, playingsoccer, or just watching
we are pouring our lives into others. And all this is only possiblebecause of Christ and His grace. For us who are among the leadership
it is about allowing God to just unload His love on us.The BSU has a rich history of students who come to feel for the first time an openness and acceptanceto try and see what other believers and the Bible are saying about this Jesus. For some it is a chance toignite their passion and journey in their faith, where their belief and love becomes what defines themand who they are.
For some it is about no longer keeping God at arm’s length, or holding out on God,
ut is about no longer denying Him the one thing He cannot gain on His own…our love.
We have not, that I am aware of, had any students who have announced a confession of faith. Oh howthose are so desired
for others to come to trust God as we do and to see that He really loves them anddesires a daily love affair with them. What we do have are students who are pouring their lives into one or two individuals that they havecome to know. By building real connections and relationships, they are allowing for discussions andthoughts of God to occur. Much of this is occurring, not within the walls of this building, but in
