Villanueva ofAlton has made just such a journey, inspiring all who knew her alongthe way with her perseverance and commitment to excellence; andWHEREAS, Born on May 21, 1983, to Javier and MariaVillanueva, Ms. Villanueva spent much of her youth picking fruitand vegetables with her parents and five siblings; when she was inthe seventh grade, her family was featured in a documentary aboutlife as a migrant farmworker, and 12 years later, the special"America Now: Children of the Harvest" followed up on the lives ofthe Villanuevas; andWHEREAS, With the support of her family, Ms. Villanueva madeeducation a priority in her life and did well in high school; shewent on to graduate from Michigan State University with abachelor
