The Manawatu Digi Awards
is a student eLearning competition and awards evening. Participation willenhance students' creativity and digital citizenship. Teachers will be inspired to further develop their ability tointegrate e-learning effectively into their practice, creating innovative and exciting learning environments. Theawards evening will provide an opportunity for students, their families, whanau and friends to share andcelebrate eLearning excellence.
 
A Manawatu Principals' Association eLearning initiative, the Manawatu Digi Awards is open to entries from allschools who are financial members of MPA. The organising team is: David Reardon, Teresa Edwards, WayneCodyre, Jaco Broodryk, Kevin Payne, Allan Alach and Lyn Ross
 
Goals
1. Students to become successful digital citizens3. Teachers to integrate e-learning effectively into their practice creating an innovative and exciting learningenvironment for all students4 Family and whanau to actively participate in their child’s learning
Success indicators
Students and teachers:
are confident and capable users of ICT, using ICTs to support the process of learning or the sharing of it;
are highly engaged in learning that includes the integration of multi-literacies –oral, written and visual (staticand moving);
use technologies to participate in educational, cultural, and economic activities;
use critical thinking skills and tools in cyberspace;
are literate in the language, symbols, and texts of digital technologies
are aware of ICT challenges and can manage them effectively;
use ICT to relate to others in positive, meaningful ways;
demonstrate honesty and integrity and ethical behaviour in their use of ICT;
respect the concepts of privacy and freedom of speech in a digital world;
contribute and actively promote the values of digital citizenship;
educate parents about the importance and impact of eLearning

Entries to be submitted on a labeled CD, DVD or pen drive in the applicable file formatDigital photograph
The photograph will:
Convey a message
Have good composition (Thirds rule; foreground; background; balance andorder)
Show one or more of the elements (people, line, colour, light)
Demonstrate awareness of angle; fame and/or macro
Be a large size (over 1 MB), as images will be viewed on a screen for judging (check the size)

The digital graphic design will:
Have a visual impact on the viewer - grab attention.
Convey a clear message to a targeted audience
Use words, images, symbols and graphs (where appropriate)
Have a clear heading, subheadings/logo to enhance the message
Have a relationship and a flow between the elements
