The  University  of  Dodoma  invites  applications  from  suitably  qualified  candidates  for  admission 
into  various  undergraduate  degree  programmes  for  the  academic  year  2011/2012.  Direct  Entry 
Applicants  (those  with  A  level  qualifications  only)  interested  to  pursue  undergraduate  studies  at 
UDOM  should  apply  through  the  Centralized  Admission  System  coordinated  by  the  Tanzania 
Commission for Universities (TCU). ONLY EQUIVALENT AND MATURE AGE ENTRY APPLICANTS 
ARE  INVITED  TO  APPLY  DIRECTLY  TO  THE  UNIVERSITY  OF  DODOMA  BY  COMPLETING  THE

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS  

1. EQUIVALENT ENTRY

A.  Certificate  of  Secondary  Education  Examination  (C.S.E.E.)  or  equivalent,  with  passes  in  at 
least  FIVE  approved  subjects,  obtained  prior  to  the  sitting  of  the  Advanced  Certificate  of 
Secondary Education Examination (A.C.S.E.E.) or equivalent Diploma; 
AND 
B.   An  appropriate  Diploma/  Certificate  or  Advanced  diploma  with  Upper  second  class  or  B 
average credit or higher grade from an institution recognized and approved by Senate. 
 
C.  Additional SPECIAL requirements for entry to a particular Programme may APPLY. 
 
NOTE: Holders of Diploma in Education, obtained after 2002 will also be considered provided 
that they have ‘A’ level qualifications with three/ two principal level passes of not less than 
FOUR points in Arts subjects and not less than TWO points in Science subjects. 
 
2. MATURE AGE ENTRY
 
Applicants eligible for admission to a degree programme under the Mature Age Entry Scheme 
must satisfy the following conditions: 
 
A. Candidates must be 25 years old or older, by October 1st, 2011. 
B.   Candidates should either have obtained at least 3 credits in approved subjects at the Form 
st
IV examination or completed Form VI at least 5 years before October 1  2011. 
C.     Candidates  should  be  able  to  show  that  they  have  attended  extramural  classes  or 
residential courses, and must submit a letter of recommendation from the Principal of the 
institution attended. 
D.   Candidates must sit and pass the Mature Age Entry Examination. 
 
Undergraduate degree courses for which students entering under the Mature Age Entry 
Scheme would be eligible are those offered in the Schools of Education, Humanities and 
Social Sciences ONLY.

3. DIPLOMA & CERTIFICATE CANDIDATES
 
DIPLOMA IN COMPUTER SCIENCE 
A.) Direct Entry Qualifications
i.) The Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (C.S.E.E) or East African Certificate of Education
(E.A.C.E) – ‘O’ level with CREDIT in at least four subjects including a credit in Mathematics
OR
ii) One of the following combinations of passes in Advanced Level Secondary Education Examination
or the East African Certificate of Education (‘A’) Level or Equivalent: One Principal Level pass in
Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Commerce, Geography,
Accountancy and a Subsidiary Pass in any of the mentioned subjects
OR
iii) One Principal Level pass grade ‘C’ and above in any of the subjects listed in (ii).
OR
iv) A Form VI certificate with at least two subsidiaries in the subjects listed in (ii) plus at least two years
of relevant industrial/work experience
OR
v) A University of Dodoma Certificate or its Equivalent from any other University recognized by the
Tanzania Commission of Universities

B.) Equivalent Qualifications


An Ordinary Certificate or Diploma with good grades (Average of B) or a qualification of an equivalent
standard awarded by legal bodies such as National Board of Accountants and Auditors (N.B.A.A.),
Business Education Council (B.E.C.), National Council for Technical Education (NACTE) etc.

CERTIFICATE IN COMPUTER SCIENCE
i) A Candidate to be admitted to the Certificate course is required to have obtained the Certificate of
Secondary Education Examination (C.S.E.E) with passes in at least four subjects including Mathematics
OR
ii) An Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (A.C.S.E) with at least two Subsidiary Passes in
relevant subjects.
