Tennant Well Positioned for WV Governor Race

Secretary of State Natalie Tennant begins the Democratic primary campaign for West Virginia
Governor with the best standing of any candidate and within striking distance of acting Governor
Ear Ray Tomblin in a trial heat.1

In vote match-up, Tomblin (31 percent) and Tennant (27 percent) start off right next to each
other, followed by Perdue (14 percent), Thompson (5 percent) and Kessler (5 percent).
Nineteen percent of voters are undecided.

Among voters who can identify Tennant and Tomblin, Tennant leads with 34 percent of the vote
compared to 31 percent for Tomblin, illustrating that Tomblin’s marginal lead is driven purely by
higher name recognition.
