The Citizens Archive of Pakistan (CAP) invites photographers to apply to havetheir work be considered for
“This is my story: Dialogue with Pakistan”
– aunique exploration of the human experience of the Pakistani conflict throughfilm, the spoken word, and photography combined in a public exhibition and anelectronic and social media campaign.This opportunity marks the first time that photographers will explore how conflicthas impacted arts and culture, families and communities in Pakistan, and how adialogue needs to be initiated through these personal portraits. Thephotographers will by recreating impact zones and experiences through exhibits,engage emotions of the general public, and elicit responses to the trauma andhorror of war and conflict. The exhibits would take the spectator through a seriesof real life traumatic experiences which would culminate in installationsportraying how the current situation can be improved by examining the past andthrough peace narrative employed in conflict of the past.
“This is my story: Dialogue with Pakistan”
will feature 30 artists fromthroughout Pakistan in two multi-media exhibitions in Karachi and Lahore. This isthe first public exhibition and awareness campaign of its kind in Pakistan that willaddress issues pertaining to violence, displacement and reconciliation. It will bea collective memory of untold suffering, compassion, and paradox.We are looking for photographers who have worked in conflict zones and areinterested in documenting the impact of violence on the Pakistani population.Preference will be given to applicants with works that are documentary in nature.The selected photographers will work in a series of collaborative workshopsspearheaded by members of the CAP board of directors- Filmmaker SharmeenObaid Chinoy, Photographer Amean Jan, and Advertising Guru Ali Mumtaz- Chief Creative Officer of one of Pakistan’s leading advertising agencies-will culminateinto an awareness campaign and public exhibitions about how violence hasaffected the emotional and cognitive process of individuals and communitiesacross the country.Selected photographers xxx
