NKU survey: Symphony, Reds, zoo top-rated attractions
Cincinnati-area residents are flocking to attractions they consider affordable, and that give the biggest bang for the buck,according to the latest Cincinnati Entertainment Survey fromNorthern Kentucky University.“The (entertainment) industry is going to see a shift from high-cost forms of entertainment to low-cost forms,” the survey said.“Industries that rely on sales of costly tickets for one-night entertainment, like sporting events, live music and theater, may notbenefit from the struggling economy.”Some highlights from the survey:• The Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden were the most popular attractions, with 56 percent of the 511

respondents saying they had attended a Reds game in the last year and 55 percent reporting they had visited the zoo. Others inthe top five include Kings Island (41 percent); Newport Aquarium (36 percent) and Cincinnati Museum Center (33 percent).• The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra placed highest for customer satisfaction, with 70 percent of respondents rating it “9-10”on a 10-point scale, with 10 being “extremely satisfied.” That was followed by the Cincinnati Art Museum (63 percent gave it atop rating); Cincinnati Opera (61 percent); Cincinnati Museum Center (59 percent); and Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park (59percent).• The symphony and museum also topped the “best value” category. Seventy-one percent of respondents gave the museum a 9-10 rating on a 10-point scale where 10 was “extremely good value,” and 66 percent did the same for the symphony. Other topvalues included the Florence Freedom minor-league baseball team (63 percent); National Underground Railroad Freedom Center(58 percent); and Cincinnati Opera (53 percent).• Respondents voted Cincinnati parks the “best-kept secret,” and the Florence Freedom scored as the “best family-friendly localattraction.”• The survey also asked respondents to choose who was the “unofficial face of Cincinnati.” Former ballplayer Pete Rose receivedthe most votes at 43 percent, followed by Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory at 41 percent, and Cincinnati Bengal Chad Ochocincoat 32 percent.The survey, in its eighth year, was conducted by NKU’s Marketing Research Partnership Program, directed by AssociateProfessor of Marketing Aron Levin.“Our study offers an unbiased look at the perceptions that are out there, and as they say, perception is reality,” Levin said in anews release. “We hope to work with these groups – no matter how they fared this year – to give them useful, actionableinformation that can help them plan for continued growth and expansion.”NKU survey: Symphony, Reds, zoo top-rated attractions Related posts:1.Top tourist attractions make a $1B local impact
