MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE REGULAR SESSION 2011By: Representative PerkinsHOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 127A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF1ANDREW WEDDINGTON AND EXPRESSING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY2AND FRIENDS UPON HIS PASSING.3WHEREAS, Andrew Weddington, a longstanding resident of4Leflore County, Mississippi, departed this earthly life on5Wednesday, February 23, 2011, to enter into eternal rest with his6Heavenly Father, causing great sorrow and loss to his family,7friends and countless former students; and8WHEREAS, born in Lorman, Mississippi, Mr. Weddington9graduated from Alcorn Laboratory High School, followed by10graduating from Alcorn Agricultural and Mechanical College (now11Alcorn State University), where he received a Special12Philanthropic Recognition Award as well as honors for playing13varsity football; and14WHEREAS, Mr. Weddington was a vocational teacher from 1955 to151989 for R.B. Schlater High School in Morgan City, Mississippi,16and then for Amanda Elzy High School in Greenwood; and17WHEREAS, during his career as a dedicated educator, Mr.18Weddington guided hundreds of Leflore County students in learning19the craft of carpentry, a 34-year legacy honored with a20certificate of appreciation from the Leflore County School21District; and22WHEREAS, in addition to teaching the craft of carpentry and23serving as the boys basketball coach at R.B. Schlater, Mr.24Weddington instilled in his students the value of a strong work25ethic and strength of character; and26
