Avibrant entertainment venue, it provided a secure on-campus social environment that was open to and embracedby all. The Pub and its employees took pride in our involvement in the school and the community as a whole, pitching in and raising money for a number of worthwhile causes. For many of us, a job at the Pub helpedlaunch us into the world of work, and gave us an invaluable, hands-on education that serves us well to this day.We were given major responsibilities, and we took them seriously. In fact, for the 1986/87 school year, the Pubgenerated revenues of $600,000, from which $100,000 in profit was returned to Georgetown University to helpfund future student social programs. Our strong recommendation is that the new Pub should be operated as astudent-run, non-profit organization, with earnings distributed to scholarship endowments.Every one of us counts among our best friends’ people we met at the Pub – people with whom we might never have crossed paths without the great social hub in the heart of campus. We wish the very same opportunity for the next generation of Hoyas. We enthusiastically endorse the return of the Pub.
