    Despite using a large amount of technology and IT systems, custody is a team business.

    Understanding what other people in your firm do and how the different parts of the firm
    interact is important in enabling you to fulfill your particular role.

    Similarly custodians need to work well with external parties on whom they depend to
    provide service to their customers. This includes the myriad of service providers ranging
    from brokers, to agents, to exchanges, to clearing houses, to technology providers, etc.

    The role of custodians is a complex one. Unless the various teams in a custodial services
    firm are able to work well with each other and with external parties they will not be able
    to deliver high-quality custodial services to their clients.
