• The program’s intent is to develop an inquisitive and capable


workforce that has a rounded understanding of nuclear
Objective engineering and is ready to contribute to both the local and global
nuclear industry.

• B.Tech. or equivalent in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronics/


Eligibility Chemical / Instrumentation / Civil / Metallurgical Engineering or
M.Sc in Electronics/ Physics

• 12 months (including internship and visit to the Zwentendorf

• Entrance Test (Students with valid GATE /GRE scores are exempted

INTERNSHIP

Dr. V. Venkat Raj


• Former Director of Health, Safety and Environment Group (HSEG) of the
Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Bombay, India.

• 40 years experience in Safety analysis and safety review of NPPs, Nuclear


reactor thermal hydraulics, Radiation protection etc.

• He has extensive teaching experience and guided a number of students for


Ph.D. and M.Tech degrees.

• Life member of Professional Organizations such as the Indian Nuclear


Society, Indian Society for Heat and Mass Transfer, Indian Association for
Radiation Protection and occupied Senior positions such as President, Vice
President in these.

• Interacted extensively with the IAEA through its Coordinated Research


Programs and membership of its Committees.

Mr. S.C. Katiyar


• Former Station Director of Tarapur Atomic Power Station (TAPS) of The
Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL).

• Over three decades of professional experience in the areas of plant


management, operations, maintenance, construction and commissioning.

• Head of the training division of TAPS and a trainer himself in technical


areas. He was responsible for the comprehensive planning and
implementation of retro fitment of the Tarapur Atomic Power Station.

• He has held several leadership roles which necessitated close interaction


with the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board, Department of Atomic Energy
and other institutions on matters of regulatory requirements.

• He is also certified to conduct peer reviews of power plants and has done
so at international locations.

Mr. M.S. Gupta

• Over 35 years of experience across operations, quality assurance, safety


reviews, planning and scheduling functions.

• He has been actively involved with training personnel on project


management and operation and maintenance in a power plant.

• He has hands on experience of root cause analysis; quality assurance;


regulatory compliances, documentation and control.

• He has held the position of Associate Director (Regulatory Affairs) at


Nuclear Power Corporation India Ltd (NPCIL), India.

• He was also the Advisor to Heavy Water Board and has worked with the
Rajasthan Atomic Power Station and the Bhabha Atomic Research Center.

Mr. M.L. Joshi


• Over 37 years of experience in radiation control and related fields.

• He is the former Head of Health Physics Division at Bhabha Atomic


Research Center (BARC).

• Mr. Joshi has also served as a member of Safety Committees for all the
power plants, which are appointed by Atomic Energy Regulatory Board
(AERB).

• He is an expert in radiation protection for nuclear fuel cycle, nuclear power


plants and research reactors and has been a lecturer in IAEA training
courses on radiation protection subjects.

• Mr. Joshi has authored several papers published in International Journals


and has presented at several International conferences.

Mr. A.K. Babbar

• Mr. A.K. Babbar is the former Head (Probabilistic Safety Assessment


Section, Reactor Safety Division) at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre
(BARC).

• He has worked as a consultant to Atomic Energy Regulatory Board for


preparation of compendium of standard generic data base for probabilistic
safety assessment of Nuclear Power Plants.

• Mr. Babbar is a renowned faculty on Reliability Engineering and Risk


Assessment, Probability Theory and Operations Research at Indian
Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, IIT Bombay and BARC Training School.
