About the project:


The 7 wonders of the world, as people all over the world know them
nowadays, were monuments made by the man and they were elected in the year 200
BC by Philon of Byzantium. This list containing the 7 wonders of the world was meant
to be a travel guide for the citizens of Athens, as all of them were situated around the
Mediterranean. These monuments are: The Lighthouse of Alexandria, The Temple of
Artemis, The Hanging Gardens of Babylon, The Colossus of Rhodes, The
Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, The Pyramids of Giza, The Statue of Zeus. All of them
were built between 2500 BC and 200 AD. But, the only ones that survived to the
present day are the Pyramids of Egypt.
The New 7 Wonders of the World, Bernard Weber started an international
campaign of to establish the New 7 wonders of the world. But this time the wonders
will be established by millions of people all over the world.
In an alphabetical order, the 21 finalists are: Acropolis, Athens – Greece,
Alhambra, Granada – Spain, The Temple Angkor Wat – Cambodia, Aztec, Yucatan –
Mexico, The Statue of Christ, Rio de Janeiro – Brazil, The Colosseum of Rome, The
Easter Island Statues – Chile, The Eiffel Tower of Paris, The Great Wall of China,
Hagia Sophia, Istanbul – Turkey, The Temple Kyomizu, Kyoto – Japan, Kremlin –
Moscow, Machu Picchu – Peru, The Castle Neuschwanstein – Germany, Petra –
Jordan, The Pyramids of Egypt, The Statue of Liberty – New York, Stonehenge –
Great Britain, The Sydney Opera House – Australia, Taj Mahal – India, Timbuktu –
Mali.
The New 7 wonders of the world will be officially announced on 07.07.07, in
Lisbon.

section is dedicated to the school projects having as theme the new 7 wonders of the
world.
The pupils and teachers in the Building Assembling Industrial School Cluster,
as well as the volunteers of Association Monada decided to take part in this
campaign.

Activities:
From 1st October 2006 to 1st November 2006 the coordinator of the school
project presented it to the students and teachers in school.
From 1st November 2006 to 1st May 2007 people involved in this project gather
materials and organise it in order to make a final presentation of the 21st finalists.
So, groups of 4 students work on 1 monument and will present it to the others.
Every participant in this project will be given a certificate from the coordinator.

Articles about the 21 monuments to be gathered in a brochure
