It is a collection of technologies that capitalizeon the attributes of cells, such as their manufacturing capabilities, andput biological molecules, such as DNA and proteins, to work for us. Forexample, biotechnology helps to produce genetically modified (GM) foods.Again it is only with the help of biotechnology that it is possible today toproduce insulin, a substance that is the cure for diabetes, without killingsheep (the conventional method).
