Fairfield’s Intergenerational Community Memoir Project
Over the next three weeks, seventh grade students and seniors are asked to respond to threeprompts soliciting childhood memories, challenging moments, memories of family and friends. The responses, or Fairfield memoirs, will be displayed with the Hale Street Gang exhibit inearly June. The Hale Street Gang portrays twelve senior citizens who gather once a week toread aloud from their memoirs-in-progress. Their clubhouse is the Greater Randolph Senior Center, an elderly mansion in a neighborhood south of the railroad tracks. Together theyweave a “collective memoir” of life in twentieth-century America, with the village of Randolph,Vermont as its nexus.
Our hope is that the seniors, seventh graders, and community members (who may beanswering at Chester’s or on the Front Porch Forum), will create a “collective memoir”of life in Fairfield today and yesterday - potentially connecting the two.
For the next three weeks, there will be a question for each of you to think about - jot downsome notes or write a longer story! Send them viaemailor drop them in the mail to thelibrary! Sign your name if you don’t mind or keep them anonymous!Questions??? Contact Kristen at BMNL 827.3945
