Ryman Auditorium. With special guests, the prolific Emmylou Harris, hairy bluegrass madman Sam
Bush and master fiddler Stuart Duncan. Plus, young hip Tennessee duo The Civil Wars and a former
host of the show, singer and fiddler Sara Watkins. Also on the show, the Royal Academy of Radio
Actors, The Guy's All-Star Show Band and the latest News from Lake Wobegon.

family. A woman in Australia is traumatised by a mass murder, losing her musical abilities, but she
regains them after she takes up shooting lessons.

This week: Why we must save our forests now

Every day Africa’s forests are disappearing at an alarming rate. Scientists say that cutting trees leads to
deforestation and this eventually leads to extreme weather conditions, including floods and drought.
Deforestation also deprives people of their livelihoods.
In this edition, four African climate change experts discuss why it is important for us to protect our
trees and what would happen if we continue cut down our forest cover in Africa.

"Fresh Air" with Terry Gross, the Peabody Award-winning weekday magazine of contemporary arts
and issues, is one of public radio's most popular programmes. Though "Fresh Air" has been categorised
as a "talk show", it hardly fits the mould. Its 1994 Peabody Award citation credits "Fresh Air" with
"probing questions, revelatory interviews and unusual insights". A variety of top publications count
Gross among America's leading interviewers. The show gives interviews as much time as needed, and
complements them with comments from well-known critics and commentators.

Friday, March 18 and Saturday, March 26 2011: Radio Romania International

"Terra the 21st century" is devoted to the Earth Hour, the largest environmental event in history. As part
of this campaign, on March 26th, some 50 cities in Romania will turn off lights for an hour. For this
year, the World Wildlife Fund, the organization that came up with the Earth Hour concept and which
has been coordinating the campaign for 5 years, estimates that hundreds of millions of people from
over 5 thousand cities across the world will symbolically turn off lights. This year, Earth Hour steps
into a new state called Beyond the Hour.

great Romanian actors while they are still alive. So on Sunday you will learn who are the first actors to

and Africa"

"UN and Africa" is a weekly, 15-minute radio programme that aims to cover topical and current affairs-
related stories about what the UN is doing for Africa, in Africa and about Africa.

World Tuberculosis Day is observed on 24 March to raise awareness about the lung disease that can be
successfully treated if diagnosed on time. The World Health Organization estimates that there are about
440,000 cases of TB each year. The multi-drug resistant strain of TB is a serious problem in some
countries in Africa which don't have the equipment and trained personnel to diagnose it.

Relief agencies are expressing great concern about the worsening humanitarian situation in Libya.
Coalition forces led by the United States have bombed targets in Libya to enforce a no-fly zone
imposed by the Security Council last week.

Mali's ancient art has been plundered from archaeological sites to be sold in Europe and the United
States. A UNESCO convention prohibits trafficking in cultural property. The Director of the National
Museum of Mali, Dr. Samuel Sidibé, says that measures are being taken to protect the country's
artefacts
