Section 6504 of Title 75 of the PennsylvaniaConsolidated Statutes is amended to read:§ 6504. Inability to pay fine and costs.(a) Order for installment payments.--Upon plea and proofthat a person is [unable] without the financial means to pay anyfine and costs imposed under this title, a court may, inaccordance with 42 Pa.C.S. § 9758 (relating to fine), orderpayment of the fine and costs in installments and shall fix theamounts, times and manner of payment.(b) Imprisonment for nonpayment.--Any person who does notcomply with an order entered under this section may beimprisoned for a number of days equal to one day for each $40 ofthe unpaid balance of the fine and costs.
