Media Release ~

On 3/29/11 at 12:06 P.M., An Officer was dispatched to 1600 E Broadway in


reference to a sexual misconduct report. The female victim reported a suspect
later identified as Lorne Beers touched an employee and made inappropriate
sexual statements. The female victim reported the suspect left the business
towards the parking lot.

On 3/29/11 at 12:10 P.M., The same officer was advised of a second victim at
1600 E. Broadway in reference to a sexual misconduct report. The female victim
reported a suspect later identified as Lorne Beers jumped out of his car while she
was walking from work to her vehicle. The female victim reported the suspect
chased her around her vehicle, tried to grab her and made an inappropriate
sexual statement. The victim provided the officer with the license plate number of
the suspect which checked to Beers.

On 3/29/11 at 12:11 P.M., An Officer was dispatched to a leaving the scene


accident at Broadway and Williams Street. The victim stated he was traveling
westbound on Broadway at Williams Street in the left hand turn lane. The victim
said the vehicle that left the scene passed him on the left hand side in the
eastbound lane. The victim said the suspect vehicle, right front quarter panel
struck his left front quarter panel. A witness to this accident followed the suspect
vehicle and witnessed the second leaving the scene with Beers as the suspect.

On 3/29/11 at 12:14 P.M., An Officer was dispatched to a leaving the scene


accident at Broadway and Providence Road. The victim stated he was traveling
southbound on Providence near the Broadway intersection. The victim stated he
had a green light as he was proceeding through the intersection. The victim
stated he noticed a dodge vehicle was proceeding westbound on Broadway at
the intersection of Providence Road on a steady red light. The victim stated he
stopped his vehicle but was struck in the front left quarter panel by the Dodge
vehicle. The victim said the driver of the suspect vehicle exited his car, made no
attempts to contact him and walked away from the scene.

Officer’s located the suspect, Lorne Beers near Providence Road and Broadway
intersection. Beers was taken to the Columbia Police Department. Prior to the
booking process, Beers required medical treatment and was released to
University Hospital. The Columbia Police Department applied for the following
warrants on Lorne Beers:

1.) Leaving the scene of an accident x 2


2.) Sexual Misconduct in the third degree x 2

None of the victims were injured in the sexual misconduct cases or the leaving
the scene of an accident cases. Beers is a suspect in the sexual misconduct
case in Mexico, Missouri early in the day on 3/29/11. For Further Questions
