Re: Reform the Postal Service or the 21" Century Act
Dear Congressman Connolly
| am pleased to extend the strong endorsement ofthe National Association of Postal Supervisors for your
legislation to improve our nation’s postal system ~ the Reform the Postal Service for the 21 Century Act.
Thank you for your leadership in introducing this important and forward-looking legislation,
‘The Postal Service clearly needs to adapt to meet the changing needs ofthe American people. For more
than 225 years, the Postal Service has served the communication needs of America, But as America
changes in how it communicates, the Postal Service must change as well, The Postal Service Vitality Act will
provide the kick-start to hep make change happen faster and in a more focused fashion,
‘The legislation wll prompt she Postal Service to enter new markets, operate more efficiently, and be more
accountable tothe public. Postal supervisors, postmasters and managers are especially appreciative ofthe
bil’ establishment, as federal postal policy, of the assurance of reasonable and sustainable workloads and
schedules for supervisory and managerial employees. The bill also assures the continuity of pay
consultation agreements between the Postal Service and supervisory and postmaster management
‘organizations. These provisons are especially necessary and appropriate as Postal Service downsizing
continues
All postal supervisors, postmasters and other management employees join me in extending our deepest
‘appreciation for your leadership and thoughtful craftsmanship in introducing this important legislation
\We look forward to working with you inthe months ahead on this measure and the advancement of the
fssues it addresses
