ROBOTS are computer-controlled .
machine that are programmed to move,
manipulate objects, and accomplish work
while interacting with its environment.
Where did the word
“robot” come from?
The word 'robot' was coined by the
Czech playwright Karel Capek in his
play “The Rossum’s Universal Robot”
It came from a Czech word “robota”
which means “forced labor”

The first industrial robots were Unimates
developed by George Devol and Joe
Engelberger in the late 50’s and early 60’s.

SENSORS
A device that measures or detects a real-
world condition, such as motion, heat
or light and converts the condition into
an analog or digital representation.
Common Sensors
• light sensor
• touch sensor
• sound sensor

ACTUATORS
is a mechanical device for moving or
controlling a mechanism or system.

Power Supply
• is a reference to a source of electrical
power.
• device or system that supplies electrical or
other types of energy to an output load

LOGIC CONTROLLER
A processor driven device that uses
logic based software to provide
electrical control to machines.

• Programmable Logic Controller
• Microcontroller
ELECTRONICS
is the study and use of electrical devices
that operate at relatively low voltages
by controlling the flow of electrons or
other electrically-charged particles in
devices

MECHANICS
is the branch of physics concerned with
the behavior of physical bodies when
subjected to forces or displacements,
and the subsequent effect of the
bodies on their environment.
