“Secret Life of an American Teenager”

Season1
EPI 1 Pilot falling in love
Wholesome 15 year old Amy Juergens finds out that she's pregnant, sparking panic among her two best
friends, Lauren and Madison. She won't tell them who the father is, but we catch on when Ricky, fellow
marching band member and "drummer," tells Amy he won't forget that special night they spent
together at band camp.

But Ricky has his own problems. His girlfriend, Adrian, is about to stand him up to go on an illicit date
with the school football star, Jack. Jack's a devout Christian, just like his beautiful, virginal girlfriend,
Grace Bowman, but he finds himself torn between his manly instincts and his promise to God (oh yeah
and his girlfriend).

Meanwhile, Ricky's also putting the moves on Grace can't he just stick to one girl? Apparently not, as we
learn from a conversation he has with his shrink. But in that same conversation, he also reveals that he
spent time in a foster home, thanks to his abusive dad.

But Ricky doesn't know that Amy's pregnant. She doesn't know who to tell first a doctor, or her parents?
But before she has a chance to break the news to her family that their "good girl" is not so good, Ben
calls to ask her out on a date. He's even joined the marching band just to get closer to Amy. She agrees
to go with him to the Youth Fellowship post game celebration (hosted by Grace, of course). Meanwhile,
Ben's best friends, Alice and Henry, notice that Ben's moved beyond just trying to have sex with Amy
he's actually got a thing for her now. Too bad he doesn't know her big secret, though he does notice her
looking at Ricky from across the room. So do Lauren and Madison, unfortunately, and they put two and
two together.

But where are Jack and Adrian during all this? Oh, just making out in the church hallway. Unfortunately,
Tom, Grace's brother, walks in on them and screams. Grace and Ricky discover their two timing
significant others while Amy and Ben, oblivious to it all , finish up their slow dance as the world falls
apart around them.

EPI 2 You Are My Everything

New love is in the air when we find Amy and Ben in the school hallway together after their romantic
night at the youth fellowship post game party. Even Ricky can't get a date with Amy now, despite the
fact that, you know, she's sort of ... carrying his baby. And Adrian? Well, she's always a safe bet for Ricky,
even though we get the distinct sense he means a little bit more to her than she's letting on. Let's just
hope he's not gonna mess that one up.
Meanwhile, Jack's desperately pleading to win back Grace's love (hers and her whole family's), thanks to
his little judgment error: kissing Adrian in front of the whole school. Too bad or good thing? Grace
doesn't know what else happened, even if Jack did tell everybody in the whole locker room... .

And Jack's not the only big mouth on campus. Thanks to Lauren and Madison's gossipy ways, the whole
school knows that Amy and Ricky had one fateful night at band camp together. Of course, it inevitably
gets back to Ben, and boy, is he upset. So Amy, who starts giving her BFFs the silent treatment, but she
eventually forgives them, as so often happens in girl land.

Speaking of the silent treatment, Grace can't seem to give Jack the cold shoulder for too long, even if
her parents won't let her see him ever again. But maybe they have good reason after all , he lies through
his teeth when Grace asks what happened between him and Adrian. Grace totally buys into the lie, and
things are good between them ... for now.

And as for the happy new couple, things are about to get a lot more serious, because Ben just dropped
the big L bomb. And he's even willing to overlook the whole Ricky thing. Amy's so smitten; she's almost
forgotten there's another B bomb about to come. Until next time...

EPI 3 I Feel Sick

There've been some changes in Amy's figure since we last saw her -— she's gained baby weight and a
killer appetite, to boot. To make matters worse, a close encounter of the gas station kind between
potential grandmother Anne and Dr. Jean Hightower reveals that Anne is still as clueless as ever. The
rest of the town is not, however, thanks to the gossip mill.

Meanwhile, Ben's still working on planning the perfect first kiss with Amy, while Ricky's hatching a plan
of his own — a selfless one, for once! He's going to help Grace sneak around behind her parents'' back
by pretending to date her, and then safely escort her into Jack's arms. But is it so selfless? Adrian doesn't
seem to think so, but she'd never admit that she's actually … jealous.

Later, at the fair, all the usual suspects are coupled up: Alice and Henry, Amy and Ben, and Grace and
Jack (hey, he can get over his Ricky hatred if this plan involves make-out sessions). But when Ben tries to
kiss Amy after the carousel, she gets a serious case of nausea and throws up all that food she just ate -—
eww! Talk about ruining Ben's painstakingly planned moment. Looks like the only serious winner at the
fair turns out to be Ricky, who scores serious points with the Bowmans when he brings Grace Home safe
and sound from their "date." Unexpected, right?

But Ben's not willing to give up his romantic vision yet. He shows up at Amy's house and executes that
first kiss, flawlessly. All could be well in Amy's world, except that now Sister Ashley's figured out she's
pregnant … and from the looks of it, there's a lot more drama to come before everybody gets to their
(hopefully) happy endings.
EPI 4 Caught

The whole town's thrown into a tizzy when good girl Grace is caught on tape doing something bad.
When two guys harass her on a street corner after dark (following another of her secret meetings with
Jack, of course), Grace rises to the occasion and threatens them with a broken beer bottle, street-
fighter-style. All of a sudden, Ricky jumps in to save her, and both of them are caught on camera … and
Ricky's not wearing a shirt. (That's because he'd just been sleeping at Adrian's.) Thanks to the local news
show, which airs the whole thing, these two would-be warriors become overnight celebrities?

While the Bowmans are trying to figure out how to punish Grace for going behind their backs, the
Juergens see Ashley suddenly turn into a good girl, which raises red flags. As does a certain piece of
gossip dad hears at the store, about one of his girls having sex (wonder who THAT could be?).

Looks like Amy can't keep her big secret under wraps much longer, because by now the whole school
knows she slept with Ricky … and the Bowmans know she's pregnant. Even AMY is ready to spill the
beans, but her parents don't believe her when she confesses she's been having sex. Maybe they're just
too distracted, what with Anne being so busy worrying about whether or not GEORGE is having sex —
with another woman.

Meanwhile, Grace decides to punish herself by quitting the cheerleading squad, and to punish Jack by
taking Ricky to church. Jack's got his own tricks up his sleeve: He's going to take Adrian to church too.
While those four are going at it, Ben and Amy are working out some serious relationship issues —
especially after Ben's dad brings up the suspicion that Amy might be pregnant.

Is Ben going to use their study session as a chance to confront Amy? And where is Amy's dad going with
that overnight duffel bag? Guess we'll have to wait and see.

EPI 5 What Have You Done to Me?

It's just a regular picnic in the park for Ben and Amy ... until Ben asks to marry her, that is. Naturally,
Amy's touched and starts to cry, confessing everything from her one-night stand with Ricky to her bun in
the oven. But Ben already knows, anyway. Now the pressure's on to marry Ben ... or get an abortion. Or
maybe have the baby and then give it up for adoption.

And, while Ricky's still hard at work trying to charm the Bowmans, somebody over at the Juergens
household has lost all his charm. That's right: George Juergens is about to "go away" for a while ... right
into the arms of Cindy, Adrian's mom. Bad timing, much?

Back at school, people are starting to talk about Amy's potential ... ahem ... problem, thanks to her two
chatty best friends. Plus, Grace not only finds out that Jack and Adrian may have done more than just
kiss, but also that Ricky may be the father of Amy's baby. As if that weren't bad enough, a heated
confrontation with Jack reveals that he only started dating her because his stepdad (that's Reverend
Stone) asked him to. Turns out the Bowman’s are big contributors to the church coffers.

Adrian, meanwhile, is desperately trying to have a talk with Amy. We don't get to find out about what,
though, because Amy skips school and heads home. And Ben's still desperately pleading to marry her.
But the question is: Will she do it? She's only 15, after all....
EPI 6 Love for Sale

Well, Amy's finally done it. She's told her mom that she's having a baby. And, while Anne's frantically
trying to figure out what to do about it, so is everybody at school -- including Ricky, who's having a rude
awakening. Amy, meanwhile, is taking matters into her own hands -- and heading to the clinic with
Adrian. Is she going to do what we think she's about to do? Not if Grace and Ben have any say in it!

And, while George and The Sausage King are discussing a possible marriage between their two children
at the furniture store, Adrian, Ricky, and Grace are having a powwow ... outside the clinic, where Ricky's
going on a "Save the Baby" crusade to please Grace. Just in case you were left to wonder if Ricky will
actually become a born-again Christian for Grace, we see him and Adrian making out in her kitchen
shortly after that, so our bets are on "no."

Finally, Amy decides not to have an abortion, but now comes the hard part. Should she just marry Ben
so he can rescue her? Despite what Leo and Ben may think, Anne disagrees -- she's already made that
mistake with George ... when she was pregnant with Amy. So, what now?

EPI 7 Absent

Latest word around school is that Amy's about to skip town to go live at her grandmother's. Although
Ben's trying his hardest to get her to stay, it looks like she's already made up her mind.

And, while Amy's talking about skipping town, everybody else seems to be skipping school for the day.
While Ben takes a day off to sort things out and visit his mother's grave, Ricky plays hooky at Adrian's
house ... only to run into Amy's dad. Not a shock that George near-pummels him and makes him
promise to never go near Amy or the baby, ever (OR tell people that George is sleeping with Cindy,
Adrian's mom, but that's another story). But Ricky doesn't keep promises ... so, it's not like he's going to
keep this one. Instead, he goes over to the Juergens household to have a little heart-to-heart with Amy,
for the first time since that one fateful night. Could he be having a little self-realization?

Adrian, too, skips out on school early. But, instead of finding Ricky back at home, she runs into George.
And he's gotten her a present ... a brand-new desk. That turns out to be the hot conversation topic
between Adrian and Grace, when the two do something strange and try to be friends.

So, while Ricky's over at the Juergens place straightening things out, Anne and George's relationship is
still on the rocks. Anne's determined to keep George out of the house, even when he claims they need
him now more than ever. And, finally, Ben gets over his hatred of saying goodbyes and shows up at
Amy's door. Is she really headed to grandma Mimsy's for good? Or will Ben's love persuade her to stay?

EPI 8 Your Cheating' Heart

Grandma Mimsy's in town to take Amy back home with her, while a devastated Ben roams the hallways.
And, while Grace and Adrian are nurturing their new sort-of friendship, Adrian tells Ricky she doesn't
want to see him anymore -- at least, not if he's going to be involved in this baby business. But maybe all
this talk of babies has gotten Adrian curious about her own roots, because she asks school counselor
Marc Molina to help her find her father.
But Adrian's not the only one with M.I.A. parents. During a rare Tom-Ricky bonding session, we find out
that Tom's actually adopted. Ricky's a little freaked out by this, and, instead of opening up to Grace, he
leaves.

Meanwhile, Marc Molina catches Adrian and Jack snooping around his office for her permanent record.
But, instead of getting them suspended from school, he does something even bigger: He gives Adrian
her birth certificate. But what's Jack got to do with all of this? Oh, well, Adrian's just going to try and
help Jack win back Grace's heart....

Back at the Juergens household, a newer, sexier Madison goes to visit Amy, after an all-out war with
Lauren to seduce Ricky. Though neither Madison nor Lauren won Ricky, Madison gets something better:
a date with Lauren's brother Jason. As for Amy, things go awry when Mimsy reveals that she has
Alzheimer's. So, how's Amy going to go away with a woman who can't even take care of herself? Looks
like its good news for Ben, because Amy just might have to stay. Will Anne let a sorry George come back
and pick up the pieces? And will Amy really keep her baby or marry Ben? Now comes the hard part....

EPI 9 Slice of Life

Amy and Ashley go visit George at his new "home," aka Adrian's condo, but the father-daughter bonding
session turns into a full-on party when Ben and Henry decide to stop by too. And when a newly dumped
Henry meets Ashley for the first time, he starts to forget about all his Alice troubles.

Ben and Henry aren't the only ones making house calls. While the girls are gone, the Sausage King pays
lonely Anne a comforting visit. And while Grace and Adrian are on a hunt for Adrian's real dad, a hooker
named Betty keeps Tom company for the night ... even though nothing happens between them.

Ricky needs some company too, so he shows up at Adrian's condo looking for a little action ... only to
blow George's cover. With THAT plan failed, Ricky turns to the next best thing: Amy's BFF Lauren. Guess
she needs a date now that Madison and her brother Jason are dating.

When Amy and Ashley go back to the Juergens house, they tell Anne everything they know about who
George has been seeing. Ashley also figures out that their family is dead broke. And finally, Adrian
comes face-to-face with her real dad ... only to have him shut her down. A heartbroken Adrian returns
home and convinces George to go back to his family. And with the condo all empty, she tells Ricky to
come over for a little heart-mending ... even if he DID just finish kissing Lauren. Will that guy ever settle
down?

EPI 10 Back to School Special

Amy's just about to go off to the Alternative Extension School for Independent Women when
George makes the executive decision to send her back to Grant High. And she's not the only
one going back. Grace wants to go back to Jack, until she sees him holding hands with Alice in
the hallway.

Adrian, meanwhile, is back at her condo with Ricky in her arms, when her long-lost father,
Ruben, shows up at the door. He's been talking to Adrian's mother, and they've decided that
Adrian should go live with him and his family. Question is: Will she let him take her away?

When Amy shows up back at school, she gets everybody talking, including her two chatty best
friends. Lauren's still gaga over Ricky — until her father, Dr. Ken Fields (aka Ricky's therapist),
finds out. While he's hurrying to school to put a stop to Ricky's womanizing ways, Ben gets into
a fistfight over some not-so-nice-things that were said about Amy. Luckily, Grace comes to the
rescue, followed by Kathleen and George, who rush to school.

Inside the principal's office, Kathleen and George dish some dirt on their rocky past, just as
Cindy walks in, looking for Adrian. As if that weren't awkward enough, Grace overhears her
mom admitting that she cheated on George. So she makes some changes in her life, starting
with the promise ring. Not only does she decide to stop wearing it, but she also tells Jack she's
not into him: She's into Ricky.

While Grace and Jack are saying their goodbyes, another couple's getting closer. Too bad Alice
and Henry's first time having sex wasn't so hot. But what now?

And as for Amy? Well, she makes a brave decision and heads back to school. This time, she's got

the support of all the students behind her.

EPI 11 Just Say No

In episode 11 of "The Secret Life of the American Teenager," Grant High's buzzing with new rumors and
gossip -- as usual. Not only has Adrian disappeared, supposedly with Marc Molina, but Madison and
Lauren are telling everybody that Ricky's in therapy. And it turns out Grace was in therapy too. Finally,
Amy finds out about Lauren and Ricky, and she isn't too pleased.

But Lauren might as well be old news to Ricky, because he's set his sights on somebody else: Grace. And
with Adrian gone, he and Grace confess their true feelings for each other, but decide to take things
slowly. Then a harmless cookie-baking session between the two heats up quickly ... until Grace's mom
comes into the room. And she isn't very happy, because she just found out that Grace told Tom all about
her cheating past. And, unfortunately, Marshall found out too.

Meanwhile, Adrian's dad, Ruben, tracks down Adrian with a little help from the cops. He convinces her
to live with him and his family for a trial period, and to enroll at an all-girls school.

Ben and Amy, on the other hand, are talking about having sex for the first time. But will they do it?

Over at the Juergens household, Anne's looking sexier than ever ... but she isn't doing it for George.
Does she mean it when she tells George she doesn't want to be married to him anymore? If so, is the
family headed for a split?

And of course, gymnast Shawn Johnson just happens to come back to Grant High, fresh from winning
gold at the Beijing Olympics. (Can you say "celebrity guest star"?) When she runs into Ricky in the
hallway, he doesn't even know she's been away -- but that doesn't stop him from hitting on her. She's
kind of into it.
