ccordingtotheNagoyaInternationalCenter,thenumberoin-ternationalmarriagesinJapanhasrecentlyskyrocketedtoal-mostortythousandperyear,unortunately,thenumberodivorcesamonginternationalmarriageshasalsoskyrocketedtoalmost-teenthousandperyear.LoveLostInTranslation.Yourmarriagecouldbeoneothose.Divorceisnevereasy,internationalornot,it’samessyprocessthatinvolvesmuchemotionalbleeding,andwhenchildrenareinvolved,itbecomesevenmessier,withchildrenotentimesbeingthevictims.Letitbeknownunequivoclythatnoonewinsindivorce.Youmaythinkyou’rewinning,butwho’slosing?Takeabetterlook.Whatiyou’reagooddad?Whatiyou’reagreatdad,butyourchil-dren’smotherwon’tletyouseeyourchildren,becauseshe’s“toostressed,”pissed,angry,orwhateverelse?Inamilycourt,Japanesestyle,yourex-wie’svague“stress”isenoughreasonorthemtodenyyouyourrighttoseeyourchildren.That’sit.NoLaw,just“stress”,andyourchildrendisappear-poo-justlikethat.Nevermindyourstress,nevermindhowmuchyou’vedoneoryourchildrenandyourex-eventhoughshedoesn’tnoticeit,andthe‘court’denitelydoesn’tnotice,especiallyiyou’renotJapanese.Don’tkidyoursel.Whatyouthinkdoesn’tmatterinthemediationroom-justher,heropinion,andthe‘mediators’whomediatenothing,andsidewithherjustbe-causeit’seasier,orshe’sJapanese,orwhatever.Thedicewerethrownlongbeoreyouwalkedintotheroom. ThecurrentJapaneselaws,orlackthereo,providenovisitationrightsordivorcedathers.NosuchthingasdualcustodyinJapan,orlegallyenorceablevisitation“rights”,perse.Why?Lastmonth,ABCNEWSNightlineranathree-partstoryonJapan’sreusaltoratiytheHagueConvention.Thistreatybetweencoun-triesallowsorchildrenwhohavebeenstolenromtheircountryoresidencetobelegallyreturnedoncediscovered.Japandoesn’thavethis.OnthatABCNewsprogram,therewere15or20Americana-therswhosechildrenhadbeenstolenromthem,literally,withnoorewarning.Imaginegoingotoworkonemorning,andreturningthateveningtondthatyourwieorhusbandhadtakenallhis/herbelongings,andthechildren,andboardedaighttoanothercoun-try.IthatcountrywereJapan,therewouldbenothingyoucoulddoaboutit.Yourwiewouldhavenolegalobligationtoreturnyourchil-drentotheircountryoresidence.TheJapanesegovernmentwoulddoabsolutelynothing,eventhoughyourspousehadjustcommit-tedkidnap.TheyinterviewedoneJapanesewoman,whosaiditwas“easy”orhertogetapassportromtheJapaneseembassyintheUSorhertobeabletokidnapherchildrenbacktoJapan.Essentially,theJapanesesystemallowsorandsupportschildrenbe-ingkidnappedandbroughthere.Seemsunbelievable,butnotmuchmoreunbelievablethanamoderncountryhavingnolegalprovisionorjointcustody.OnthatsameABCprogram,adocumentwaspro-ducedallegedlycookedupbytheJapanesegovernment,whichhadinormationinitwhichgaveinstructionstoJapanesewomenonhowtokidnapchildrenromoutsideJapanesebordersandbringthembacktoJapan.Childrendeservethelove,care,andattentionobothparents,when-everpossible.Foroneparenttodenyanothertheirrighttobeapar-entisirresponsible.Lastmonthhellrozeoverwhenrevolt,revolution,andthevoiceothepeoplesweptthroughLibya,Egypt,Tunisia—andothercountrieslongheldbreathlessbymegalomaniaclunaticleaders.Outinthestreets.Revolutionariesaimingtochangetheworld,ghtingwarplanesandmachineguns,ortheirrightstobeheard.Unlesssomeonedoesorsayssomething,thepowersthatbeneverlisten,thelawsneverchange,andnothinggoesorward.RANisaboutFORWARDMOVEMENT,exactlylikethenameothecolumnsays.Iwanttocareormykids,butthelawheredoesn’trecognizethis.Ithinkitshould.FightForYourRights.

Hmmm, 2 & 1/2 pics of the same 1 flute (out of all other pics submitted; guitar, bass, tubular drums... ), and a bit of text, of me talking all alone. No intro, no conversation... what am I doing in this?? FILLER. At least they got my name WRONG. It's *ROBINSON*, as in my FB profile, through which much of the correspondence went for this. Trevor knows and has called me by it. I'm in his FB list :P
