Colon Cleansing Secrets

If you want to eliminate, or at least minimise a number of unhealthy and chronic


conditions, or improve the way you feel, act and look, perhaps it’s time for you to rinse
out the toxic waste in your colon. Colon cleansing has been practised since ancient
times as a technique to rejuvenate the system. It keeps the colon, a vital organ in our
system, functioning well and contributing to your overall good health and well-being.

Stages of Colon Cleansing

Colon cleansing therapy typically comes in two stages. The first stage involves washing
the large intestine thoroughly to remove accumulated wastes, and the next phase
involves healing, rebuilding and restoration of a healthy colon. In the first phase, the
colon is irrigated by a technique, called enema, where water is gently introduced into
the large bowel, alternately streaming in and out, at regular intervals. The technique
allows water to flow through the entire length of the large intestine, including its starting
point at the cecum. The stream of water washes the colon, loosening and dislodging
old encrustations and faecal material.

In some cases, this encrusted, toxic waste material has been stuck in the bowels for
many years. Millions of pathogens have made it their home, and this bacterial haven
has become the perfect breeding ground for disease. Unless this pollutant is eliminated,
many body conditions — ranging from severe skin disorders to depression, chronic
fatigue, breathing difficulties, nervousness, and even arthritis — will arise and intensify.
Removing the pollutant will gradually bring relief from these conditions, especially when
combined with dietary changes and other treatments.

During the healing phase, you infuse into the bowel potent herbs that make
inflammations subside and shore up the weakened sections of the intestinal walls. The
herbs that are selected are agents that can help soothe and lubricate the intestinal
tissues.

When to Do Colon Cleansing

How do you know when your colon is getting toxic and in need
of a cleanse? If you observe any of the signs below, then
consider colon cleansing.

Diet. If your diet consists primarily of meat, processed foods


and dairy, or you rarely eat foods that are rich in fibre such as
fruits, vegetables, nuts and whole grains then it is time to set a
date in your calendar to clean your colon.

One of the primary functions of your colon is to re-absorb the


moisture from the faecal materials. To achieve proper
elimination of wastes, the content of the moisture should not
be too great, or too little. When the material is too liquid, it
passes quickly through the intestines causing poor absorption
of valuable nutrients. If there is too little moisture, hardened faecal material clogs the
intestinal canal and cause bloating, sagging of tissue, and distortion.

The consequence of a diet which is high in meat, processed foods and dairy, and low in
fibre is an overworked colon because it has to reabsorb more than the normal quantities
of moisture. In this environment, faecal materials become encrusted along the colon
walls, turning it hard and rubbery. You may eat a large quantity of food, but still be
undernourished since nutrient absorption is blocked by the encrusted waste and mucus.
As a result of overeating, much of the food is stored as fat, without getting absorbed as
nutrients. This is the reason why a link exists between weight problems and unhealthy
colons.

Through colon cleansing, the absorption of nutrients will improve, and your cravings for
food will diminish which means you’ll eat less food. Because of the more complete
absorption of nutrients from what you eat, you derive more energy from less food.
Because the body expends less energy dealing with toxins, there is more energy
available for your more important activities.

Constipation. If you find it hard to eliminate at least once a day, you should perform
colon cleansing immediately. Normal waste elimination is brief and does not need much
exertion. If you have to force it, or it takes more than a few moments to empty the
bowel, you are very likely constipated.

You may feel fine, but you can be chronically constipated because of eating large
amounts of processed foods without getting sufficient exercise to help digest the food. A
constipated colon causes absorption of toxins into the body which then result in fatigue,
malaise, depression, back pain, and skin disorders, among others.

Constipation compromises the integrity of your intestinal muscles, as they are burdened
with hardened and encrusted faecal debris. Some parts of the bowel walls may expand,
as they become engorged with encrusted debris. Other sections may constrict,
hampering the passage of faeces through the narrowed canal. The imbalance weakens
the colon walls, and it may balloon or sag due to excess, unevenly distributed weight.
Ultimately, you’ll get a deformed colon, with pockets of putrefied waste. This renders
waste elimination ineffective and sporadic. Chronic constipation may lead to colitis and
other colon diseases, or even colorectal cancer.

Stress. You are likely to feel the debilitating effects of stress immediately in the
digestive system, as digestion and elimination get upset. Digestive efficiency bogs down
with chronic stress, anxiety and agitation, fear, anger and the like. The food you eat is
only partially digested, resulting in less nutrients available for assimilation; the
undigested food passes on through the canal and lodges in the bowels. Colon cleansing
ensures that this food does not remain in your system.

Antibiotics. Many drugs, especially antibiotics, slow down the digestive processes
when used repeatedly. There are bacteria in our intestines; some good, some bad.
Beneficial bacteria are an essential part of our digestive process, breaking down food
and synthesising and absorbing vitamins. When they are dominant in the internal
environment, they keep bad bacteria from proliferating. Without good bacteria, digestion
and vitamin absorption would slow down, and harmful bacteria could become dominant.
Antibiotics kill both good and bad bacteria. Colon cleansing will help clear up the system
and give a chance to good bacteria to repopulate the intestines.

Chronic health conditions. If you suffer from health problems such as gas, allergies,
eczema, psoriasis, arthritis, migraine and many others, you may want to do colon
cleansing. A toxic colon often induces or aggravates a number of these disorders.

Overweight. Since overeating strains the gastrointestinal tract, the food you eat may
not be completely digested. It merely moves into the colon and clogs up the intestinal
canal. Colon cleansing helps unclog the channel. It is only very rare that people overeat
on fresh fruits and vegetables. Overeating is most likely to occur with poor-quality foods.

Enema and Its Solutions

The standard solution that you should use with performing enema for colon cleansing is
water. Pure distilled water is a must to avoid introducing harmful chemicals like chlorine
and fluorine into your body. Herbs may be added to the distilled water to enhance the
cleansing effect, as they alkalise the typically acidic environment in the bowel. With
slight alkalinity, bowel inflammation or irritation is soothed, and ulcerated tissues start to
heal. Some of the herbs that you may want to add are found below:

Aloe vera. This valuable herb heals inflamed tissues and encourages beneficial
bacteria like acidophilus to multiply. You may add a cup of aloe vera juice to the enema
solution.

Catnip. This popular disinfectant is particularly beneficial for yeast or fungal infections.
Soak one teaspoon of catnip for 15 minutes in water that has just been boiled and
removed from the heat source. Mix the tea into the enema solution.

Garlic. Garlic, a natural disinfectant, kills or disables parasites, pathogenic bacteria and
viruses, and even fungi like candida. To make an infusion, boil a cup of water and
prepare 5 to 6 chopped garlic cloves in a cup. Pour the hot water into the garlic and let
soak for 15 minutes. Use a teaball, or strain out the garlic. Add the tea to the enema
solution.

The Coffee Enema

The ordinary coffee that you drink every morning is one of the most
effective detoxifying agents for the enema solution. Coffee enemas
are recommended to people who suffer with chronic constipation,
gout, arthritis, hormone imbalances and skin diseases. But patients
with uncontrolled high blood pressure, angina or heart disease should
avoid coffee enema. Consult a qualified health-practitioner if you have
liver diseases, or you have a history of drug use, whether legal or
illegal, before performing coffee enema.

To make the coffee solution for colon cleansing enema, put 6 heaping tablespoons of
ground coffee into 2 quarts steam-distilled water. Do not ever use instant or
decaffeinated coffee. Boil the mixture for 15 minutes and let cool. Strain the liquid, and
use only 1 pint per enema. You can save the rest for use over the next 3 days, if you
are on a cleansing diet. Do not, however, perform the coffee enema solution in the
evening, because some caffeine will be absorbed which could disturb sleep if done too
late.

The colon is a channel through which flows the debris of the digestive process. One can
only expect that some of the toxic material sticks to the tissues and builds up, causing
adverse effects that manifest as various symptoms. You can help to clear this channel
and remove all the encrusted debris by hosing things down.

Disclaimer

Do note that you should not also develop a dependency on using coffee enema. Some
natural health practitioners do not recommend regular enemas. Instead, they prefer to
rely on the use of herbs for colon cleansing. Also, if this is the first time you are
cleaning your colon or if you have a certain chronic condition that you are hoping to
