KIDSPORT GRANDE PRAIRIE & AREA
KidSport is a national not-for-profit organization that providesfinancial assistance for registration fees and equipment for organized sport programs for kids aged 18 and under.Through a confidential application process we provide grantsso they can play a season of sport. Since the launch of theKidSport program in 1995, local chapters across Alberta havedistributed more than $6 million to over 36,500 children andyouth.
Mission:
We believe that no kid should be left on the sidelines and allshould be given the opportunity to experience the positivebenefits of organized sports.KidSport provides support to children in order to removefinancial barriers that prevent them from playing organized sport.We do this by:
Raising funds in the community to pay registration fees for KidSport kids toparticipate in sport programs.
Gathering used equipment for KidSport kids to use in sport programs.
Advocating the value and benefit of kids playing sports in the pursuit of lifelonghealth and wellness.We believe that through participation in organized sport activities, kids learn the valuesof:
Co-operation
Team play and friendship
Commitment to goals
Personal excellence
Healthy competition
Self-esteem
 
GRANDE PRAIRIE MINOR BASEBALL
The Grande Prairie Minor Baseball Association is a volunteer non-profit organization. Our purpose is to provide to the children of thecommunity, through various organized baseball programs and events.
THE GRANDE PRAIRIE & DISTRICT S.P.C.A.
The Grande Prairie & District S.P.C.A. is a non-profit,member-supported organization dedicated to promotingrespect, humane treatment and compassion towardanimals.We seek safe, loving, life-long homes for our animals.We hope to impart the positive impact companionanimals have on our quality of life. We also addressvarious spay/neuter issues through partnering with localveterinary offices.We encourage the support and sponsorship of humane education programs aimed atdeveloping more compassion, better understanding and a deeper appreciation regardingthe diversity of animals in our world. We hope to advance community understanding of the need for animal protection and advocacy.We educate the public about animal and human welfare issues, including animal healthand behavior. Particularly, we provide humane education at local schools to teachchildren how to be safe around animals, as well as, responsible pet owners.
GIRL GUIDES OF PEACE RIVER AREA
Our goal is to enrich the lives of girls and women from the age of 5 to 125. We are anorganization for girls and women run by girls and women and in 2010 we celebrated 100years of guiding in Canada.We are going to use the proceeds of this lottery to help update and do some renovations toour Camp Kupasiwin campsite that is located 2 hours North of Grande Prairie. This siteis designated for all members of guiding to use for camps, meetings, retreats, day camps,music camps and many other fun things. We have sleep shelters, cook shelters and akitchen, bathrooms, tenting sites and much more to offer the girls in Northern Alberta.
 
With the money we receive we will be able to fix the roofs of our shelters and possiblyput new siding on the buildings. We will be able to update our kitchen and purchase agenerator for extra power usage to run our fridge.
CATHOLIC FAMILY SERVICES OF GRANDE PRAIRIE
Catholic Family Services is a non-profit agencythat provides affordable services to all residentsof Grande Prairie and outlying regions withoutdiscrimination with regard to age, sex, colour,race, religious persuasion, marital status, politicalbelief, or disability. We are dedicated toenhancing the quality of life for all who seek itsservice. To achieve this goal we provide:individual, family and marital counseling withfees based on income and ability to pay. We alsoprovide family life education programs; a men’ssupport group; and administer the Family/Community Liasion Program.All funds received from Cash & Camping Lotterywill be put towards our counseling program. 
VALHALLA HERITAGE SOCIETY
The Valhalla Heritage Society was formed in 1988 with a purpose of preservation andenhancement of the community by initiating, encouraging and supporting ethnic, culturaland heritage projects. Currently, we are working on creating a Community Centre inValhalla by building a library, meeting room, washrooms and a new entrance on to thegymnasium at the Valhalla Community Charter School
SASKATOON LAKE AG SOCIETY
Saskatoon Lake Ag. Society currently manages a community hall in abeautiful rural setting. In order to keep our hall running and looking nicewe need to do some renovations to it. We have managed to repaint thewalls and do some small renovation work; however, the money from thisspring lottery will help us to do some renovations to our kitchen andmeeting room. Also, it will help us to spruce up the outside and continue tokeep our grounds up and looking beautiful.
