The following sums are appropriated, out of any

money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, for the

fiscal year ending September 30, 2011, for military func-
5
tions administered by the Department of Defense and for
6
other purposes, namely:

For pay, allowances, individual clothing, subsistence,

interest on deposits, gratuities, permanent change of sta-

tion travel (including all expenses thereof for organiza-

tional movements), and expenses of temporary duty travel

 between permanent duty stations, for members of the
15
 Army on active duty, (except members of reserve compo-
16
nents provided for elsewhere), cadets, and aviation cadets;
17
for members of the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps; and
18
for payments pursuant to section 156 of Public Law 97–
19
377, as amended (42 U.S.C. 402 note), and to the Depart-
20
ment of Defense Military Retirement Fund,

$41,403,653,000.

The budget deal that was reached last week and averted a US government shutdown has now been approved by both the House and the Senate. The President is expected to sign this bill soon. This bill will cut government spending by US$38.5 billion over the rest of the fiscal year, which ends Sep 30, 2011.
