Treaty of Versailles:

Signed in June 1919 at the Paris Peace Conference. Draft of


this peace treaty after the First World War, was prepared by the Allied and
Associated Powers ( Victor states ) and imposed on reluctant Germany ( a
defeated nation ). A lengthy treaty, main provisions of which were: all colonial
territories of Germany were taken away and placed under the Allied and
Associated Powers as “ Mandates. ”Alsace-Lorraine was cedied to France and
Morsenet etc. to Belgium. France received the right to explicit or 15 years the
industrially rich Saar Basin.
