KKS lecture BHAGAVAD GITA 7.26
04/2006Reading from the Bhagavad Gita as it is, seventh chapter, knowledge of the absolutetext number twenty six.Krishna: “Vedaham samatitani vartamanani carjunaBhavisyani ca bhutani mam tu veda na kascana”“O Arjuna, as the Supreme Personality of Godhead, I know everything that hashappened in the past, all that is happening in the present, and all the things that are yetto come. I also know all living entities: but Me no one knows”This is Krishna. Krishna knowseverything that has happened in the past, He knows everything that ishappening in the present and He knowseverything that will happen in thefuture and what do weknow..?.......little….One of the big problems of this world ismisunderstandings, there are so manymisunderstandings, we always feelmisunderstood or we alwaysmisunderstand people. Someone looksat you and sort of gives the evil eyeand you think this person doesn’t likeme but maybe he just has atoothache….can be or something likethat you know…and you just look atthe whole world like I hate you worldand someone walks past and thinks this person hates meso manymisunderstandings…constant…..infact a lot of our time is spent settingthings straight, you know, reconciliation they call it “let’s haveconciliation meetings and work it outand we sit down and discuss, I didn’tmean it like that” and hours andhours, years of our lives are just spentto overcome misunderstandings why?Just because we don’t, we don’t knowwhat people think, we don’t knowwhat they feel “How are you today?”“Yeah?you know “you ok?” toconstantly ask, we don’t know, noidea…how different is Krishna andhow peaceful is Krishna, can youimagine all the insecurities, all theseanxieties are not there. ..
Sanskrit…
Between two armies Krishna andArjuna were there, Arjuna waslamenting but Krishna was smiling inthe middle of a battlefield between twoarmies, to smile is somewhatunusual…in other words to be totallyrelaxed, very cool that was Krishna, totally transcendental, not seeinganything to cause anxiety in thisworld….We read the Bhagavad Gita and wehear the verses
Sanskrit
..the soulnever takes birth, the soul can not bekilled and all these kind of verses, wehear them and say “Yes we agree,Yes,Yes I agree with this” and the nextmoment we are in total anxiety and weare still in anxiety about something inthis world. Basically the BhagavadGita was telling us don’t worry about1

this world at all, there’s nothing toworry about. Just like BhaktiSiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur, thespiritual master of our founder acharyaSrila Prabhupada. He once gave alecture and in that lecture he basicallysays to the people So are youconvinced now about KrishnaConsciousness.” They all said, likegood audience “Ohh Yesss!” “Are youreally convinced?” “Yes yes yes weare really convinced” and then, ok,thelecture finished and after the programme they were talking a littleand people said “well we have to gonow”…He said…… “Go now? Whatdo you mean? You said you wereconvinced, right? You were convincedwhere do you want to go? Where doyou want to go, there’s nowhere to goand you may think there’s a reason togo but even if there’s a fire know thatall those things that are burning in thefire anyway you had to give your relationship with them, becausewhatever can burn in fire you will haveto give up your relationship with, thatand whatever can not burn in fire thatyou will maintain”…….That wasgetting intense! Everyone was saying“Yeah, Yeah very nice” and they allwent home. Everyone said “Yes,Yeswe agree” and they went home. Thatis the nature. So it is very interestinghow we have different compartments, compartments in our head, onecompartment in our head is totallyconvinced “Yes, Yes I believe this Yes,I agree with it” but the other part wedon’t act upon it, we act totally in theopposite way as if we don’t understandthe higher knowledge. Its veryinteresting how we can have these twosides in us which are totallycontradictory and it’s totally ok to belike that, this is our position…But notKrishna, Krishna is trulytranscendental, not just a little bittranscendental but completely on the platform of the spiritual world.Krishna is not really considering thismaterial world of much importance, what shall I say…I remember this oneSunday feast lecture, I gave inSwitzerland and it was about ants andhow ants, ants are always working, so Iwas interested in the psychology of theant and what makes the ant work sohard. So if for a moment we make a parallel with our own life, we don’tmind working 24hrs if it is really worthit, if it’s really something important, therefore we may assume thatwhatever the ants are working for is2

important to them and means a lot tothem, it’s worth working 24hrs for.At night you wake up and see the antsin India, you can see this more closely, their nature is a little closer and youwake up and see the ants are stillmoving around, they are working hardmiddle of the night, in the day the antsare still working, you never find an antsort of taking a break, lying on the beach catching a little sun, you know, little sporting or playing, nothing likethat, no football, nothing, that’s right, they don’t seem to enjoy, they justwork, so basically whatever they aredoing must be very important…..tothem, but to us….it is too insignificantto really spend much time with, OK,we put the ants in the spotlight. Now,when was the last time we thoughtabout ants…ok , they get a little bit of disturbance, we think about them butotherwise we don’t think about ants, you don’t read in newspapers aboutants, there’s not much on the internetabout ants compared to people, ants areinsignificant. So imagine the dreamsof the ants, do you know how longthey live, I mean something like tendays, and it’s all over, ten days andthat’s it…you start off all your hopes, all your dreams in ten dayssoshort….even butterflies I read the other day, live for eleven days once it is a butterfly, maybe a little bit before, butvery short lives, so many hopes, somany dreams, in such a short time andif you look at everything like that, howis it possible……so Krishna looks atus in the same way, Krishna also looksat our lives as so short, and to us it’slike….Krishna looks at our dreams justlike the ants, the ants dream.I know, I know sanyassis have thisnature to pop bubbles, we are the guyswhen everyone has a balloon, we comewith a bit of pin and “pop“pop“bang” “bang” “bang” that is our dutyto kind of destroy illusions, illusionsabout the material world and to pointtowards Krishna, point towards theeternal. So at least we are not propagating that we give up thetemporary because it is not possibleanyway, you can move from one placeto another, but you can’t give it up, thetemporary world, we are in thetemporary world, therefore we are notspeaking about giving up thetemporary, but we are speaking aboutmaking relationships with the eternal, that is really Krishna.3
