A maximum of three hits on one side are allowed beforehitting the volleyball over to another quadrant. A player can hit the volleyball into any quadrant. There are several ways that a team can earn points, including the following: a player hitting thevolleyball into an empty quadrant; a player hitting either of his or her nets with the volleyball; ateam hitting the volleyball more than three times consecutively on its side; and, a player hittingthe volleyball out of bounds. The server must always serve at the cone. When a team makes an error, that team earnsone point and serves the volleyball. Unlike regular volleyball, where the objective is to score themost points possible, four-
way volleyball’s objective is to score the
least points possible. Once ateam earns five points it is eliminated from the game. The game ends when one team remains. Anew game begins after a winner has been determined. Each team rotates once clockwise to adifferent quadrant before the new game begins. The winning team gets to serve first. Theregulation four-way volleyball courts extend twenty feet from a common pole to four outsidepoles.
