Duplex ultrasound can indeed be regarded as an integral component of the angiologic
examination or an extension of the clinical examination by fairly simple technical means. Thus
the sonographic findings do not simply supplement other imaging modalities but, together with
the clinical findings, provide the basis for deciding whether medical therapy, a radiologic intervention,
or surgical reconstruction is the most suitable therapy for an individual patient.
