SWOT analysis of Benn and Jerry:

Strengths:
1. Motivated workers
2. Friendly working atmosphere.
3. Strong relationships with suppliers
4. Provided pure and natural products as bearing high cost.
5. value to internal customers (Workers) as they were involved in decision making

Opportunities:
1. Change in trend of society as they became health conscious.
2. Social activism
3. Edible activism
4. Introducing new flavors

Weaknesses:
1. Inefficient human resource, as they were unable to formulate the strategy.
2. Low marketing efforts
3. They did not availed the opportunity of export so later on it became the problem
in declining the sale.
4. High expenses on social activities than marketing.
Threats:
1. changing trend in society( globalization)
• Health copiousness
• Globalization trend was increasing
• Exports and imports were increasing.
2. Entrance of rivals in the industry
3. Political changes
4. Government restrictions on some products. As discussed in the case “all natural”
were not all natural.
Main problems with the Benn and jerry which in my opinion are as following

• Inefficient human resource:


As the company was quit able to hire some H.R experts to hire efficient employees or
strategy makers. A firm depends upon its leaders or top mangers to survive so it is
important to have visionary leaders who formulate strategy at corporate and business
level.

Strategy and implementation for the above problem.


To hire some motivated and experts of H.R who further hires some talented specialist of
every field like marketing finance and also logistics. So they make corporate level and
business level strategy to enhance the business. The company trouble due to lack of any
course of action in long run. So experts of the fields do the job well and company might
have gone as market leader.

• Globalization:
As in the case it was prominent that the social trends were changing. As people were
becoming more health conscious. They were having low fat to be healthier.
Exports and imports were increasing due to the globalization but the company
was failed to cope with the changes in the market. The fall in sales was also due to not
availing the exports opportunity.
Strategy and implementation for this problem:
As the indication of changes in environment were being observed. So firm should
have adapt the changes. As new markets were discovered and opportunities were there,
firm has to avail it as the rivals did.
Company should manufacture the low fat ice-creams as people were becoming
more health conscious.
Recommendations:
We have only one sentence to say in above case,
“It is important to have a clear vision of market and have proper strategy to achieve the
specific goals. But to do all this efficient human recourse should be in the organization”
