Prayer Bulletin No.
verBulleinNo.27 wane street of Broken Lives!”
When travelling the highways, the sigat of a car-juk yard seems to
affect me. Bach oar was once the pride of some pereon ~ now it lies in
silence ~ wrecked, broken, rusted! The omer has forgotten it and would
never drean of coming back to view what remains of what was once his
prized possession! Abandoned - Forgotten! On the Junk-neap!
Every night, after dark, on the streets of Melboume, staggering,
quarreling, ‘mmbling incoherently, or lying in doorways, tren-shelters,
Or parks ~ cen be seen a rotting Rass of humanity ~ living, breathing,
suftering, end dying while they live. As long as they make'no trouble
the law will not molest then, society will not concen itself with
then, their companions will fot bother then.
Once, cach was regarded by someone as the crowning work of God's creat—
ion, the pride of a mother, the hope of a father, the idol of some
lover's heart. Bach made in the inage of God, contained the seede of
a character whose top-moct branches might somé day touch the stars!
Derelicts on the "Street of Broken Lives". Why are they there? No doubt,
there are many contributing factors. Tae blane could be laid at many
doors. Yet ultimately, cach will have to bear bis own responsibility.
Bach is there through his own choices. Is there any hope for then?
Poor homeless, friendless, derelicts! Thank God there are societies and
social workers that care ~ atteupting to provide shelter and food for
sone of them. We should All be doing nore, in a practical way.
But the ultimate anover ie - CHRIST! Christ the Saviour! Christ the
Transformer! God still answers prayer. Men and women have been rescued
from the "Street of Ruined Lives" and weturned to Society. God bless
our own Teen Challenge Workers - we enowld support then all we can.
Remember the great need every day.
But wile the scene in Nelbourne at night is very terrible, there is
a far worse place ~ iiell! The land of Ruined Souls! And NO'ONE entering
‘that lend will ever retura to the society of the righteous. Por here
the refuse of the entire universe is fused into one unspeakable foul
nase - conpletely, utterly, eternally - hopeless!
Bat why is anyone there? Many factors and many others have played their
part end mast share in the blane - tut ultimately each will discover
That they got there by their own free choice! God did not create hell
for any iuman being. The soeds of hell lie in the human heart fron the
day of birth, and unless those potential destroyers are removed, they
will bring forth a harvest which will act only create @ hell within the
individual, but finally bring hin to “fhe Land of Rained Gouls". The
poison of lust, pride, greed, hatred, onvy, and rebellion egainst God,
are just as lethal to’ the soul as alcohol, opium, cocaine and social
Giseases are t0 the body. They poison both soul and body. Bat let us
not think that sin debases only the under-privileged. It clains the
respectable, the ordinary, our friends and our families - in fact all!
There 1s only one cure for ein - the Blood of Jesus Christ! It will not
only save mon from Wolbourno’s streote of "broken nen", but will remove
hell fron the hunen heart by destroying the seeds and the poiso:
However, the cure will only work on living people. Once the soul and
‘the body are separated, the fate of the soul is eternally fixed!
The body returns to the duet and the soul finde its eteraal hone on
the level of ite condition on earth. All that can be done for a man or
wonan aust be done here and now ON EARTH. The cure mist be administer
ed while the body and soul are here together. Joan tells us the cure
for sin and hell in dn 3.16."For God so loved the world, that He gave
His Only-Begotten Son that whosoever believeth on Him( * ) have ever
lasting life". But the Gospel must de made vital by the Pover of Goa!
The Holy Ghost must convict of sin, and tum the hearte of men to Hit
self in repentance. Only prayer and intercession will do this.
Let us, then, be about our Master’s business! Let us be vitally con
cerned: "ow'is the accepted times Now is the day of Salvation!"
