Thought in Business: Something in the Mist

Attending all classes in choices in business allows me to get some knowledge about other

business majors. However, I did not change my mind about my top major choice. I am still in

dilemma between Real estate and International business. I learnt during all classes that almost

all majors are related and getting a degree in one of the major can open new horizons for

different careers. As the saying goes, all roads lead to Rome and I believe it is true with

business. Most majors lead to some good professions and opportunities.

During the Real estate and International business courses, I was more tempted by the

internships and opportunities offered after graduating. In my point of view, they seem more

appealing than other majors’ opportunities.

International business is a great major for me. We all know how important it is to deal with

global market since globalization took a place and that nowadays we cannot be isolated

anymore. I believe this major is just for students who are willing to manage cultural

difference on three levels: self, administrative and interpersonal. Anthropology, culture,

geography and history have been my favorite subjects at school. That is why I believe that I

had already gained a wide knowledge about cultures. Besides, living in a Mediterranean

country makes me even more exposed to both east and west. On one hand, we have deep

relationships with European market and we are out in the open to Media. On the other hand,

The Arabic media domination is so significant in the other part of the Mediterranean bay

especially by Middle East – Lebanon on top and Egypt and their corporations with gulf make

me gain a deep understanding about the detailed difference even between these countries. I
am also aware about the Indian, Korean, and Chinese culture because I watch lots of

documentaries, movies and even listen to their music. I define myself as a global citizen and I

do consume products from different countries. The idea of being immersed in all mixed

countries is enjoyable. Thus, pursuing a career in international business will be perfect for me

as I am sure I will enjoy it to the most. In addition to that, I believe I have the ability and

skills to succeed in that area as I feel fortunate to live in that area of the world , I speak four

languages fluently and I am intending to learn Spanish and Italian soon which I don’t expect

to be hard because I had already learnt harder Latin languages. Without forgetting,

understanding the variant cultures is a basis in order to communicate efficiently.

Regarding real estate, I was fond of all things related to real estate. As we had learned in the

presentation in class, talents and qualities of real estate agents should include honesty and

reliability. Furthermore, they should have high communication skills. I believe I can classify

for this. Besides, I am not too much into numbers that is why I think these two majors are

great to consider unlike Accounting and Human resource. I am still engrossed in global

market. As a result, I am determined to deal with something related to luxurious homes on

international background. Italy, Spain, South France, Monaco, Monte-Carlo and so more

countries stretching on the Mediterranean area have been a good location for the well-offs for

decades. So why not pulling a chance and gain a foothold in this glamorous market? Besides,

there are more places than Saint-Tropez and Florence which I call the hidden paradises could

be explored and become an enthralling lure for these customers. Morocco, Tunisia and

Algeria for instance. Great locations, excellent weather and numerous unknown virgin lands

lie on the Mediterranean Sea. After the revolutions, I am preaching a bright future and a more

care to take place in these countries. They could be the next top destinations. Why not?
However, I am a little bit anxious about studying real estate in USA. Especially, everybody

keeps telling me that it is useless because every state has different laws and every country has

different concepts and point of view. However, I planned to talk about it to Mr. Robert W

Taylor since he has the precise knowledge upon this. Being an international student could be

odder to consider this major. It is a ‘Big table’ as he stated so I will probably make a final

decision after I meet him and discuss this matter.

I will probably end up with doing either a double major or choosing a major and minor. I am

not sure yet as I need to study more these two fields.

It goes without saying; business is the two sides of the coin. I might be unsure of the major I

will do but I am quite sure that I will pursue a career that combines international interaction

and enchanting lifestyle.
