2.15) Singapore General Election year 2011

Click the above Forum to read!

Frog A : For Singapore long term interest, the writer has put
up a good analysis to advise Mr.Chiam and Mr. Low to stay
put in their SMCs rather than to contest in GRCs.

Frog B : Yes, he present a very balanced view on the impact

to ruling party as well as opposition parties. I hope both of
them Chiam and Low will seriously consider his advice.

Frog A : I have an advice for both of them too. I remember a

children song and the song goes like this ~~ I have an a apple
and you have two ///// You give me an apple and I have
two ///// I eat one apple and give one back to you ///// I do
not have any apple and you still have two

Frog B : I see, it sounds quite related to..... but I haven't got it

yet....
Mutualsharing
I have an apple and you have two ~~~ Opposition parties
have only SMC and ruling party has both SMC and GRC

You give me an apple and I have two ~~~ Opposition parties

have won GRC and they have both SMC and GRC

(If the song stops here, it is good for opposition parties,

however the song is not finished yet, it goes on.....)

I eat one apple and give one back to you ~~~ Opposition
parties have given up their SMC and they have also loss GRC

I don't have any apple and you still have two ~~~ Opposition
parties have no SMC and ruling party still has both SMC and
GRC

2.14) Maids and condo pools

Click the above Forum to read!

Frog A : Is this a human right issue?

Frog B : I am not sure! It depends on whether or not it is

against the condo rule?

Frog A : Is this a Luxury issue?

Frog B : I am not sure! It depends whether or not the maid is

there to take care of employers’ kids?

Frog A : Is it a social position issue?

Frog B : Again I am not sure! There are other employees in

condo like rubbish collector, cleaner, maintenance guy,
security guard. They are employees of the condo
management. The difference here is maids are the employees
of the families who live in the condos.
Mutualsharing

Legalization

All condos in Singapore are governed by By-Laws, which are

listed in the BMSMA Act 2004 and relevant amendments &
regulations. This is not a national issue as each condo has the
right to create its own By-Laws at a General Meeting. Of
course, some By-Laws could be "illegal" if they conflict with
the other Clauses of the BMSMA 2004. This is not a national
issue as each condo has the right to create its own By-Laws at
a General Meeting. Of course, some By-Laws could be
"illegal" if they conflict with the other Clauses of the BMSMA
2004.

Most importantly is that owner make their own decision and

NOT be convinced by their appointed Managing Agent (MA)
to adopt the MA's preferences. The MA works for the owners
and NOT the other way around. Remember at all times that
the owners can remove the MA at a General Meeting.

***Jokes ***

Sir's instruction to maid at poolside watching sir's junior

swimming,

Sir : “Stupid, listen, you cannot go into the pool even on hot
day. You will only go into pool to save sir junior if he is in
trouble. You understand?”

Maid: “Sir, what if other children get into trouble? Do I have

to help?”

Sir: “Stupid, they have their own maids to help them. You
only help sir junior, that’s my son, not other. Understand?”
Maid: “But sir, our next door neighbor does not have a maid”

Sir: “Stupid, let their children drown, those without maids

should not be staying in this condo in the first place.”

2.13) Singapore Botanic Gardens
Click the above Forum to read!
Frog A: It is a beautiful and wonderful garden, I like the
place!
Frog B: Me too, I have many friends there and they are
settling down there.
Frog A: I am fully agreed with the writer that the Singapore
Botanic Garden should be declared as World Heritage Site!
Frog B: Well, very strong support to push the idea is
necessary, tough work!
Frog A: Human beings have a saying: There is a well (will)!
There is a worm (way)!
Frog B: I hope and I believe Singaporean can make it!

2.12) Primary one places not for sale
Click the above Forum to read!
Frog A : Well, I have to stop playing golf with you on
Saturday for one year!
Frog B : What’s the problem?
Frog A : I have to be volunteer for the primary school where I
intend to send my child for primary one registration next
year.
Frog B : But, what can you do in school?
Frog A : Luckily I was from St. John last time, I suppose I can
help out in St. John ECA
Frog B : I see.

Mutual sharing

Some commented that volunteering is fine, so long as they

keep it up after their kids get into the school. In fact, most
parents don't bother to "volunteer" once a place is secured for
the child. This is the same as paying for a place in the school,
not in cash, but in kind.
However, we suppose no amount of money can buy anybody a
place in school, in Singapore at least, except through sheer
hard work like volunteering yourself for a period of time.

Schools are also very careful in accepting volunteers these

days. The children of these volunteers are lumped into phase
2B, also subject to the 1 km limit, if more children than places
with 1 km, also must ballot. No guarantee

Frog A : “Three No” policy, “No” sound negative but to me, the
current relationship between the two sides seems improved as
compared to before.
Frog B : Well, there are always different view and the
comment of “too close, too soon” seems aiming at too fast the
process!
Frog A : It is and it will continue to be interesting about
cross-straits relations!

Mutual sharing
Let us have a better understanding of “three Noes” policy;

…………….. ……………I sincerely hope that the two sides of the

Taiwan Strait can seize this historic opportunity to achieve
peace and co-prosperity. Under the principle of "no
unification, no independence and no use of force," as Taiwan's
mainstream public opinion holds it, and under the framework
of the ROC Constitution, we will maintain the status quo in the
Taiwan Strait. In 1992, the two sides reached a consensus on
"one China, respective interpretations." Many rounds of
negotiation were then completed, spurring the development of
cross-strait relations. ……………………

Frog A : I am referring to comment from WHO Chief , “ Flu
viruses are very unpredictable, very deceptive ….” I
remember the next thing after the SARS outbreak's episode
that we are constantly worrying about is bird flu so called
H5N1 and who knows….
Frog B : Yes, I also remember many countries had killed
thousands and thousands of chickens and ducks whenever
there was a bird flu case, so we are thinking that it is a matter
of time we will have bird flu outbreak since birds are flying
freely across many countries.
Frog A : Well, it is a threat all the time but there is no
significant regional outbreak or worldwide outbreak like
current Influenza A, H1N1 virus.
Frog B : I wonder what will be the next virus after H1N1?
Back to worry about bird flu again?
Mutual sharing
Short account of bird flu from internet
--------------------------------------------------
There are 15 different H types (H1, H2, H3, etc) and 9 different
N types (N1, N2, N3, etc). The avian influenza in poultry which
affected humans is caused by the H5N1 subtype of Influenza A
virus.

In Jan 04, health authorities in Vietnam and Thailand

reported their first human cases of infection with avian
influenza caused by an H5N1 strain. The cases in humans are
directly linked to outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian
influenza in poultry initially reported in Korea in mid-
December 2003 and subsequently confirmed in an additional
seven Asian countries (Vietnam, Japan, Thailand, Cambodia,
China, Laos and Indonesia).

As of April 05, there have been 89 reported human cases

resulting in 52 deaths. Based on these figures, the fatality rate
is 60% with Vietnam and Cambodia continuing to report new
cases.
How to prevent bird flu?

Frog A : Do you agree that the independent directors have to
be picked the minority way ?
Frog B : I think it has to do with independent directors’ roles :
provide a watch over the interests of minority shareholders?
Frog A : If this is true, may be we should call them minority
directors!
Frog B : But they are independent, I suppose it is nothing to
do with majority or minority!

The Independent Director, A Myth or Reality?

Much has been made of the role of 'Independent Directors' in
Singapore. Differing opinions have emerged regarding the
responsibility of an 'Independent Director' but there has been
little or no discussion surrounding the fundamental question
of whether the concept of the 'Independent Director' is a legal
reality or a myth. In order to settle the legitimacy of the office
of the 'Independent Director', this question needs to be
considered. …………….

Frog B : And the ball will just end up nowhere, sometime the
ball is missing in the process!
Frog A : In this case, the ball was passed fast; I repeat, the
ball was fast-passed; it was handled well and fast; eventually
it was properly placed in the net.
Frog B : Fantastic !

Mutual sharing
Salute to the related government agencies that they have
shown good co-ordination to settle the fire hazard –
prevention is better than cure. They respect each other
authority by communicating with each other restlessly!
2.06) Hawkers

Frog A : I think the Hawkers here are stressful.
Frog B : Why you say so?
Frog A : Some of them had problem getting A or B grade
when they were in school. Well, they are now out of school
and again they are expected to get A or B grading for their
stalls!
Frog B : I see.

Mutual sharing
With reference to NEA website:
http://app2.nea.gov.sg/topics_food_hygiene.aspx
Eating establishments and food stalls are assessed by NEA and
given the following grades:
A – a score of 85% or higher
B – a score of 70% to 84%
C – a score of 50% to 69%
D – a score of less than 50%
To equip foodhandlers and licensees with basic knowledge of
good hygiene practices, the NEA has produced a Basic Food
Hygiene Booklet that is available in English, Chinese, Malay
and Tamil.

Frog B : No, you have to understand in this way - when one is
formerly trained, one is qualified to train others but no
guarantee one is a good trainer.
Frog A : Yes, you are right!

Mutual sharing
“Throw the hiring net wider” – this new approach to employ
teacher is a good move as the same approach has already been
practiced in other industry. However comprehensive training

Frog A : You have a point. Merlion itself is famous and in fact
similar statue was built in other countries, like Japan etc….
Frog B : Is it true?

Mutual sharing
There are not one, but three, merlions - one full-sized and two
babies - perched in a park in the city centre of Hakodate. The
Hakodate is situated in Hokkaido of Japan.
It was built by 64-year-old Masaru Yanagisawa - a hotelier,
fishery boss and philanthropist. He is also chairman of the
Singapore Association, whose members are mainly Japanese
with an interest in Singapore.
