Any type of human service organizations receives grants in order to run the programs that

are offered within the organization. Depending on the type of grant that the organization receives

will depend on if it is ongoing or has to be renewed every year. With having grant money on

hand, organizations have more options to help people than if they were just using donations from

businesses and individuals. Organizations also can purchase equipment, reading materials for

programs and also provide the clients with educational or job needs. Grants are critical to any

and all human service programs that are offered in the organizations. State and Federal Grants

funds several resource centers and activities that provide valuable information for clients for the

sole purpose of them getting back on their feet, and the policy makers who write these grants.

Grants support programs addressing critical community needs, such as homelessness,

undereducated, along with the single parents who are having a hard time making ends meet. I

think that most of the organizations that offer assistance, the client has to at least try to get back

on their feet on their own to a point. If the client is only using the organization for food and help

with the bills without trying to find a job, I believe the organization will stop helping them. I

know that the organization here in my county if the client is not working or going to school then

they have to enroll into the program “Jobs for Life.” But if the client is married and the spouse is

working then they can receive help from the organization.
