Her name wasSnow White.Snow White had a beautiful but a proud step mother, who was a witch. Every dayshe stood in front of a magic mirror and asked:
Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the loveliest of us all?
The mirror used to answer:You are, oh Queen.
However one day the mirror replied:
You are beautiful, but Snow White is the loveliest of them all.
The jealous Queen was so angry that she ordered Snow White to be taken to theforest and killed. But the servant took the Snow White and instead left her deep inthe forest. Snow White wondered through the forest alone till she finally saw astrange house in the middle of the woods. The house belonged to seven dwarfs.Snow White pushed the door open.
"l wonder who lives here?" she said to herself, "What tiny plates! And spoons! Theremust be seven of them, the table's laid for seven people." "I'll make them somethingto eat. When they come home, they'll be glad to find a meal ready."
Later the dwarfs came home.
"Who are you?" the chief dwarf asked.
The kind dwarfs heard the sad story and said:
You can live with us Snow White.
"Hooray! Hooray!" they cheered, dancing joyfully round the little girl.
"You can live here and tend to the house while we're down the mine. Don't worryabout your stepmother leaving you in the forest. We love you and we'll take care of you!"
