CAN YOU MAKE A DAISY 953 A MULTIPUMP LIKE THE

DAISY 880?

I was repairing a 880 that i received for my Boy Scout Camp. I was looking at the two rifles. They seem to be
similar in construction.

I am assuming that the 880 has a valve that allows for multipumps...??

I appreciate any help.

Theodore L. Summers I have always been puzzled why a person would want September 2 2007, 7:32 PM

to turn an airgun that takes less work to shoot and make it more work to shoot.
Maybe it is just the desire to see if it can be done even if it serves no usefull
purpose or to produce more power or velocity.

My reason is more POWER... September 2 2007, 7:43 PM

Ernie the Eyeball The rifle is great as it is, although it suffers from lack of power due to its
(Login askernie) "target" configuration.

It has a nice target style stock and could be a pretty good longer range rig if it
had a little more power.

People have been modding things that have been perfectly functional in thier
original state for years. A perfect example is hot rodding.

But as I said, my reason for asking the question is... more power.

Thanks

The 953's pump is large and moves lots of air per stroke September 2 2007, 8:01

James Perotti and I have looked at the idea, but decided that a lot of work would
be involved, to somehow fit both a checkvalve and air accumulation volume
between the existing piston and exhaust valve.

The simplest solution might be to shorten the pump stroke by a fraction of an inch
and fit a bulkhead in the pump tube at the new stopping point of the piston. The
checkvalve would be in the bulkhead and the volume between bulkhead and the
stock vlave would be the air accumulator.

Not to say it would be easy.

Fill the void. September 3 2007, 8:33 AM

Kevin H. Not sure about a multi-pump, but the piston face on those rifles has a void in the
(Login haywire1) front. It's about 5/8" diameter and 1/8" deep. I stoned the face smooth and added
192.44.136.103 a nylon disk to fill up the void.

It perked up the velocity a bit. The Daisy Max Speed pellets come out around 550
fps.
