The D.C. Hunger Solutions and Social Compact published a report in 2010 analyzing the "grocery gap" in D.C. The gap shows that low-income and minority communities "often have far less access to full-service grocery stores than do higher-income communities."

Also, the D.C. Office of Planning has a map of so-called "food deserts" and their intersection with poverty in the District.
