What are Assemblers?
In the very early days programmers wrote inMachine Language. It was a slow, tedious anderror prone process, only feasible for short andsimple programs. To simplify the task ofProgramming and allow larger programs to becreated, programs called Assemblers werecreated.

Assembler allowed programmers to write inAssembler Language. Although an AssemblerLanguage program had the same number ofinstructions as the equivalent machine program,writing Assembler program is much simpler.In Assembler Language, operations arerepresented by mnemonic codes (such as MVCfor MOVE) and the data is represented bysymbolic codes (such as PLACE1) rather thanaddresses.
