Introduction

While the job interview will require you to "say" the right things, the resume will require

you to "write" the correct things. In both cases, using proper English is extremely important. When

an employer looks at your resume, their goal is to find out whether or not you're qualified for the job.

There is no one format that will work in every situation. Your success will be determined by your

presentation, and your grammar. When potential employers look at your resume, they will only

glance at if for a few seconds.

During these seconds, they will take the time to determine whether or not you're qualified,

and they will also look at your presentation. If you have words that are misspelled, or you use run on

sentences, or you have problems with capitalization, more than likely, your resume will be thrown in

the trash. When you make English mistakes on your resume, this shows potential employers that you

don't care about impressing them, because you didn't even put in the time and effort to make sure the

resume was written correctly. If you're like many people, you've probably read of the many ways

you need to prepare for a job interview. You've probably heard about how to dress, what to bring,

and how to act.

While all of these things are important, it is equally important for you to pay attention to

your English. When you talk to someone that uses poor English, the first thought that probably

comes to your mind is that this person is unintelligent. Would you hire this person for a job?

The answer to this question is probably no. If someone doesn't speak in an intelligent

manner, it is very likely that they are unintelligent, or uneducated. While this may not be the case,
people will almost always judge you first by the way you look, and then by the things you say. When

you go to a job interview, you can't be lacking in either area. The first step in reparing for your job

interview is to practice speaking.

Think about the common questions that are asked during the interview and come up with answers in

advance.

English Vocabulary

Ever noticed that people who have a strong English vocabulary receive more attention and

respect from their peers, colleagues, subordinates and authority figures? This is because speaking with a

strong vocabulary indicates that you take yourself seriously.

Language and the way we use words conveys intelligence and authority. A person who is a

mathematical genius or an expert software developer may be highly respected for technical skills, but if

the words that come out of mouth consist of a poor vocabulary, it will unfortunately, communicate a lack

of intelligence.

How do you improve your English vocabulary?

One of the best ways to improve your speaking voice is through reading a great deal of

material. A strong English vocabulary and communication skills go hand in hand. If you must prepare

and deliver speeches or lectures in your chosen profession, it is important to brush up on your

vocabulary to make a good impression and engage your audience. It is not necessary to speak in

ostentatious language and use “50 cent” vocabulary words that will confuse the people you are
speaking to, but having a strong command of the English language and using it n an artful manner is a

skill that employers seek when looking for employees. Tutorials based on English Vocabulary are

made available in this section under Career Series. English Vocabulary articles help you change the

way you utilize your existing vocabulary and offer valuable tips and tricks on improving and

enhancing your English Vocabulary.

How to make your Vocabulary Better

One powerful method that you can use to make your vocabulary better is to build your own

dictionary. While regular dictionaries can helpful, their biggest disadvantage is their sheer size.

There are too many words to learn, and you are limited in terms of the time you have. It is better to

build a dictionary of words you come across as you read. If the word interests you, write it down,

and when you're done reading, look it up in a dictionary, and list it in your notebook.

You may also want to write a sentence that shows how the word should be used. If you do

this ach time you come across an unfamiliar word when you read, your vocabulary will come

passive. As you collect words and place them in your personalized dictionary, you will want to go

over them often. You will want to make it your goal to use them at least once a day when you speak,

or when you write a paper. The more you use the word, the more likely it is that you will remember

it. Just placing the word in your dictionary is not enough. It must be applied in you every day speech.

Building your own dictionary is very powerful, because over time, you will have a collection of

words that are suited to you. A number of studies have shown that a word must be used at least 10
times before it is embedded in a person's brain.

The Importance of using Flashcards

You have no doubt heard about the importance of using flashcards. Flashcards have always

been a popular method to help people remember important information. This is especially true when

you want to increase you vocabulary level. You can use these flashcards by writing the word and the

sentence on the front, and on the back of the card, you will want to write the definition of the word,

along with a sentence that puts the word in the proper context. Every so often, you will want to test

yourself by reading the back to determine the information on the front, and vice versa. It is also

important for you to use your senses when learning a new word.

Instead of just saying the word, you will want to hear the word, see the word, and write it

down. When you use more than once sense, you will increase the chances that the word will be

permanently placed into your memory. It will also be crucial for you to make sure these words are

used when you talk to people, and when you need to write something. By using the word for various

tasks, you will become more proficient with it. While this may seem like a lot of work, in the end, it

will pay off. Having a strong vocabulary can be very profitable.

Avoid Common English Mistakes in Your Resume

When it comes to getting a good job, your resume is a factor that will play a pivotal role in our

success or failure. While I've talked about the importance of using proper English during the job

interview, you won't even get this far if your resume isn't high in quality.

Common English Mistakes that You Must Avoid

There are a number of common mistakes that can kill your resume. By being aware of these

mistakes, you will have the resources that will allow you to avoid falling victim to the fates that so

many job seekers fall for. Some of these common mistakes include spelling problems, capitalization

errors, and run on sentences. Some may read this and laugh, but you would be surprised by the

number of people who make these mistakes. The first thing you will want to do is write a rough

draft. Once you've written the rough draft, you will next want to proofread it, looking for errors that

can be corrected.

When you write the rough draft, don't waste time trying to make it perfect. Just write up

something that will allow you to place your thoughts on a piece of paper. The rough draft is the

document that will allow you to weed out mistakes before putting them on the final document. Word

processing programs such as Microsoft Word or Word Perfect are great ways to spot potential

problems.

However, I cannot emphasize enough the importance of not relying on these programs. Many

people type up documents, and then they run them through word processing programs. Once they've

done this, and they don't see any obvious errors, they assume that the resume is perfect.
Always Proof-read

There are a number of errors that web processing programs will not be able to catch. One good

example of this is words that are spelled correctly, but in the wrong context. An example of this

would be using "wonder" when "wander" should be used, or when you use "their" when "there"

should be used. Because the word is spelled correctly, most word processing programs can't tell the

difference between the two. This is why you will want to take the time to proofread your document.

Look for mistakes that the word processing program can't detect. Even when your resume is written

properly, you're not done yet. Your style of writing is just as important as the grammar. One thing

that potential employers hate are resumes that are bland and redundant.

While there are some things that should be present on all resumes, you will want to have a

style of your own. You will want to explain to the employer why you can be a great asset to their

company. Make your resume exciting. Your goal should be to capture the attention for the

employer from the very first paragraph. If you don't, they may lose interest, and you resume may

still be tossed in the trash, even if it has proper grammar.

Importance of Proper English during Job Interview

Your job interview is crucially important, and it will determine whether or not you will

get the job. Depending on the type of job you're going for, it is very important for you to use proper

English. In most cases, jobs which offer higher salaries will have higher levels of competition, and

even if you're qualified, one mistake during the interview will kill your chances of success.
Preparation is The Key

Waiting until you get to the interview is too late. If you haven't thought about what you will

say in advance, you've already put yourself at a disadvantage. While it is impossible for you to know

all the questions that you will be asked during the interview, being prepared for common questions

will give you the advantage. Some of the questions that you will be asked during the interview

include: Where do you see yourself in five years? Why do you want to work for us? What separates

you from the other people who are applying for this job?

If you've been to more than one job interview, you should already have a good idea of the

questions that you will be asked. Giving the best answers to these questions will separate you from

the other people who are applying for the position. You should write down all these

questions in advance, andyou should prepare answers for them. Practice giving these responses in

the days leading up to the interview. During the interview, and it is crucial for you to make

sure your responses don't sound scripted. If they sound scripted, this will leave a bad impression on

the interviewer, who will think that you're not genuine.

During the Interview Using Proper English is Important

While you will want to use the best English possible during the interview, you should

only use big words if they flow naturally, and if they make sense. There is nothing more embarrasing

than to use a fancy word out of context, or to use it in a way that doesn't make

sense. If you make this mistake during the job interview, you will make it appear as if you re -trying

too hard, and you may also make yourself look foolish. If you don't know how to use a word in its

proper context, it is best for you to avoid using the word. Using a fancy word in the wrong context is

no different than using poor grammar. All roads lead to the same destination.

Why Speaking Proper English is Important for your Career A number of studies have

consistently demonstrated that those who have an advanced knowledge of the English language are

much more likely to advance their careers. In addition to this, these studies have also demonstrated

that a strong command of the English language will lead to higher paying jobs, more social mobility,

and a great deal of social success.

No matter what career you choose, whether it is Engineering or History, having a

powerful command of the English language wll greatly increase your odds of success. Generally,

your vocabulary will need to be equal to those who are in the same career field. However, if you

want to surpass your colleagues, and make yourself more marketable, you will need to increase you

English skills, and make them superior to the other people who work in your field. While

you may not realize it, people will judge you by the way you speak.
Barriers that you will need to Overcome

Most of us are familiar with how people feel about appearances, but the manner in which you speak

is also important. Even if you are dressed nicely, using poor grammar will show that you are wolf in

sheep's clothing. You might look nice on the outside, but you're not so nice on the inside. To

succeed, you must focus on your appearance as well as your manner of speaking.

Most people underestimate the importance of mastering English.

This is especially true for people who live in English speaking countries such as the United

States or Great Britain. Because they are raised speaking the language, they don't feel that it is all

that important. They think they can get by on the basic language classes they took in school while

they were children. However, only having a basic knowledge of English will not open career doors.

If you speak only an average level of English, people will think you're average. If you speak in a

manner that is eloquent, this will create a powerful impression.

The first barrier you will need to overcome is the belief that Basic English is

enough. When I say Basic English, I'm referring to the English that most Americans speak on a daily

basis. While the English language is comprised of about 700,000 words, the typical American only

uses 50,000 in their day to day conversations. Most educated people who have earned a degree in

college, or who read lots of books, will have a vocabulary that is closer to 100,000, twice the amount

of the average American.

These people are much more likely to land high paying jobs. To be successful, it must

be your goal to learn 100,000 words or more. Many people have a poor command of the English
language because they don't read. I always laugh when I hear people say that they hate to read. These

people don't realize that they are destroying their chances of being economically successful. Not

only does reading allow you to build up your vocabulary, but it also allows you to become more

informed, learning things about the world around you. As I've said in previous articles, reading can

increase your IQ. Watching television cannot do this, and some would even argue that it does the

opposite. The first step in speaking English property is to learn more words.

learning things about the world around you. As I've said in previous articles, reading can increase

your IQ. Watching television cannot do this, and some would even argue that it does the opposite.

The first step in speaking English property is to learn more words.

Take Classes, and Read More

When you learn a new word, you should take the time to use it in a sentence. Use it when you speak

to people. By using the word in your everyday speech and writing, the word will be saved in your

long term memory. Studies have shown that you will need to repeat the word at least seven times

before it "sticks". In addition to learning new words, you will want to read everything you can get

your hands on. Read fiction as well as non-fiction. Read things you normally wouldn't read. This

will allow you to learn new words that you normally wouldn't be exposed. Increasing your English

skills can become very lucrative. Despite the fact that English is often referred to as being a global

language, most people will never learn even 35% of the words that comprise the language. However,

learning as much as you allow you to stand out from the crowd, and it will open up opportunities that

will be closed to others.

Quickly Improve Your Vocabulary

When most people think of improving vocabulary, they will generally think of school children being

taught the subject in English class. However, improving the vocabulary shouldn't be limited to

school children.

Increasing Your Vocabulary Can be Accomplished at any Age No matter how old you are, it is very

unlikely that you've mastered every word in your language. What this means is that increasing your

vocabulary should be a life long journey, and it shouldn't be something that you stop just because

you graduate from high school or even college. Many people make the mistake of only wanting to

improve their vocabulary when they have to take a test. When you do this, it will not help you

improve your vocabulary over the long term. While you may do well on the test temporarily, the

information that you learned will be forgotten, because you didn't take the time to store it in your

brain for the long term.

One of the best ways to improve your vocabulary is to read a lot of books. While you will naturally

want to read something that interests you, it should also be something that is challenging. If you

don't challenge yourself, you will never be able to increase your vocabulary. You must learn a new

word on a consistent basis, and you must learn to use that word.
How Reading Improves Your Vocabulary Level

It has been shown that reading will improve your vocabulary dramatically. When your read, your

brain is forced to analyze the words that are on the page. You must scan the pages with your eyes,

and your brain must interpret their meaning. As you can imagine, this is a very complex process.

While you can increase your vocabulary by reading books within your favorite genre, it has been

shown that you will increase your vocabulary even more by reading books that are not

in your genre. If you place an emphasis on reading non-fiction books, not only can you increase

your vocabulary, but you will also increase your general knowledge as well.

When you read a variety of books, you will naturally come across words that you don't know.

Instead of just skipping these words, you will want to make a note of them. You will want to take the

time to research them, so that you can find out what they mean. The very act of taking note of a

word before looking it up has been shown to greatly enhance the vocabulary skill of the people who

do it. While I have mentioned reading in previous articles, another great way to improve your

vocabulary is by playing word games. Not only can these educate you, they are fun and entertaining.

GAMES

The Importance of Word Games

Word games such as Scrabble are a great way to have fun while building your vocabulary at the

same time. Your brain will be forced to play with the letters, and in addition to working with words,

you will also learn new words. One additional tool that you might want to include in. Scrabble is a

dictionary. When you use a dictionary while playing Scrabble, you will be encouraged to use words
that you wouldn't normally used. Another great thing about word games is that they are interactive.

As you play the game, you can also enjoy the company of others.

Word puzzles are another great way to build up your vocabulary while having fun at the same time.

Many newspapers or magazines will have crossword puzzles, and you will want to use them. You

can greatly enhance your vocabulary by working with these puzzles on a weekly basis. It should also

be noted that the puzzles will become harder each week. While it may sound strange, reading the

dictionary is a great way to strengthen your vocabulary. While most people get their dictionary when

they want to look up a word, why not read it?

English Language and Career Advancement

If you are like many people, there may have been times when you talked to someone who

had poor English skills. While you might have been polite, you were probably thinking that this

person wasn't very intelligent. You may also have thought that this person was rude. While it is a

well known fact that people will judge you by the way you dress, many people don't pay attention to

the way they speak. Depending on the situation, using poor English can close a lot of doors, and

some of these doors may lead to lucrative opportunities. In high school, it isn't uncommon for kids to

be made fun of when they use proper English. They may be called nerds, or they may also be called

geeks. Many of us learn early on that you can be socially punished by using "big words" and proper

English. While it may not be cool in high school, life is not about being cool. It is about being

successful. When you're successful, people will see you as being cool. One of the best ways to

become successful is to have a strong command of the English language. After high school, the way

you speak will determine the type of job you get, and it will also determine your annual salary. If

you want to get a good paying job, you will need to learn how to talk. If you stand out from the
crowd, you will further increase your chances of success

The importance of the English language for Public Speaking

No matter what career you're interested in, having strong English skills can help you succeed. If

even you are highly intelligent when it comes to technical subjects like math or science, you will not

be successful if you don't know how to communicate your ideas with others. Even mathematicians

are required to write papers on their findings. If they don't know how to use proper English, how can

they get their ideas across? I should also note that I'm not implying that

you need to have the skill of William Shakespear, or even a Pulitzer prize winning writer. However,

your writing should be able to stand out from the crowd.

Public speaking is one of the most important activities you can engage in. For many of

us, it can be the most daunting. For many people, the very idea of standing up before a crowd to give

a speech is scary, to say the least. However, public speaking is one of the best times to showcase

your skill. When you speak with a high level of English, people will be impressed, and they will be

much more likely to understand what you are saying. While you may want to use a few big words,

you shouldn't use too much. It is important for you to pay attention to your audience. If your

audience doesn't have a high command of the English language, using too many words can be

confusing for them.

Using proper speech during business presentation can open doors

If you are an entrepreneur who has a great idea, but you don't have the capital to get it off the

ground, you will need to contact an angel investor. When you meet this investor, you will have to

show them your business proposal, and you will have to give them a speech. You will only be given

a limited amount of time to show the investor how your idea can make them money.

However, if you don't have a high command of the English language, you are more likely to make

mistakes, and if the investor is not impressed with your manner of speaking, they may decline your

offer, even if it is a good one. This is just one example of how using English properly can be

valuable. Imagine that you are giving a business presentation for your company. Your goal is to get

your audience, the company executives, to see how your idea can allow the company to be more

profitable. Again, if you have a poor command of the English language, your speech will not be as

eloquent as it should be, and they may decline your offer. If they decline your offer, you just lost an

opportunity to move up in the company. As you can see, you can't afford to not increase your

English skills. Failing to do this can be detrimental to your future, as well as your career. Placing an

emphasis on skills is exceptionally important.

How to Improve Your Vocabulary While You Read

Reading is The Key Perhaps the best method you can use to improve your vocabulary is to

read. When I say read, I'm not just talking about comic books, mainstream magazines, or celebrity

tabloids. I'm talking about reading materials that are actually challenging, those which may be

beyond your vocabulary level. It is these books that will improve your vocabulary, and they will

allow you to become much more skilled. It should also be emphasized that reading will not improve

your vocabulary over night.

Those who have excellent vocabulary skills are generally people who have been reading

books for years. They have a large repository of information stored in their brains, and they can

reach into that repository to pull out words whenever they need them. This is one of the reasons why

it is so important for parents and teachers to emphasize vocabulary while their children are young. It

becomes harder as you get older.

Generally, children have more time to read than adults. Once you become an adult, and you are

working to pay your bills and deal with other daily issues, you don't have as much time to read as

you used to have. This is why you will want to read early, and read often. You must also create a

strong desire to strengthen your word power. You will want to learn how to use words in

both your speech and your writing.

Improving Your Vocabulary Must be Deliberate

I would also like to point out that just picking up a book and reading it will not maximize your

vocabulary. To succeed, you must make an honest attempt to do so. Your dictionary should be one

of your most important reference manuals. You should literally go through the dictionary, reading it

from start to finish, looking at various words.

When you are reading something, and you come across a word you don't know, you

should look it up. The action of looking up the word will allow it to stick in your mind, and you are

much more likely to remember it in the future. It may not always be necessary to look up the word,

as the sentence which surrounds it may convey its meaning.

However, a dictionary should be an important manual for anyone who is truly interested in their

vocabulary improvement. One method that many people use to increase their vocabulary is index

cards. You can take a 3 x 5 card, and you can write down a word, followed by its syllable

breakdown, and its markings. On the opposite side of the card, you will want to write the meaning of

the word. It can be the actual definition, but some people find it easier to remember when it is used

in a sentence.
Techniques you can Use to Build up Your Vocabulary

Many words will have multiple meanings, so you will want to address this on the opposite side of

the card. You will want to hold a few of these cards, and it will be helpful for you to review them a

few times a day. After you've reviewed them at least seven times, it is very likely that they will be

stuck in your long term memory.

When you see the words in the future, or when you hear them, you will automatically know what

they mean. If you don't do this, you run the risk of only storing them in your short term memory.

Your brain is a very sophisticated mechanism. It will get rid of any information that is only

stored in your short term memory. Those who are successful with building their vocabulary are those

who add these words to their long term memory. It is also important to learn how to

build your vocabulary while you read. English Mistakes That Can Kill Your Chances of Getting a

Job Whether you're preparing for a job interview, preparing to give a speech before a crowd, or

writing up a business presentation to submit to your superiors, it is critically important for you to

make sure everything is correct.

When it comes to your career, you can't avoid to make any mistakes. Using improper

English during a job interview will cause you not to get the job. If you are giving a speech, using

improper English will make your audience think you're unintelligent.

If you submit a written proposal to your superiors, and it is written with improper English, it may

very likely be rejected. As you can see, failure is not an option. In this article, I want to go over

common English mistakes that can destroy your chances of career advancement.
The first of these mistakes is pronouncing words incorrectly. While this mistake may

sound easy to avoid, it is one of the most common mistakes that people make. To become a master

at English, it is not enough for you to know a word, or understand its definition. You must also be

able to say it correctly. When you fail to pronounce a word correctly, even if

people think you're somewhat intelligent for using the word in the right context, you will be

criticized for not saying the word properly.

One of the best ways to correct this issue is to break the word down into its syllables, and

pronounce it accordingly.

The Use of Slang Terms

One of the biggest English mistakes you can make is using slang words. Those who use

these words are often seen as being unintelligent. Unless you are speaking to an audience that doesn't

mind if you use slang, you will want to avoid using it at all costs. While slang may

sound cool when you're talking with your friends, you will not want to use slang words during a job

interview, during a speech, or during a business presentation. If you do, it is very likely that you just

killed your chances of being successful.

I should also note that there is nothing wrong with simplicity. Many people try to sound

sophisticated by speaking with complex sentences. This can be extremely risky. When you speak

with complex sentences, you increase the chances of fumbling up the words. Avoid trying to have a

perfect tense, or the use of conditional. With English, you can be simple, but sophisticated at the

same time.
Being sophisticated with English does not automatically mean you should use complex sentences

with big words. If you are able to drive home your points without using complex sentences, people

will be much more receptive to the things you have to say. Unless you are highly skilled, avoid the

use of complex sentences.

A Failure to Speak Carefully

This is a mistake that gets a lot of people in trouble. They speak without taking the time to think

carefully about the words that come out of their mouth. Not only can this cause your audience to

become confused, it may also cause them to become offended if you say the wrong things. To ive an

example of this, how many times have you heard of a prominent person get in trouble ecause they

said something in the wrong manner?

Even if you did not intend to convey a certain thought, the things you say, and the ways in

which you say them, can be perceived by your audience in various ways. While some may be

positive, others may be negative.

How To Use Proper English When You are Giving a Speech

For many of us, giving a speech is one of the most daunting tasks we could ever engage in.

You have to stand up in front of a group of people, and you must speak to them about various

concepts or ideas. You may be nervous, and if the people don't understand what you're trying to say,

the experience can be humiliating. But this is only the tip of the iceberg. Depending on the speech

and why you are giving it, failing to speak properly will not only cause you to be humiliated, but it
may also cost you time, money, and your reputation. It is for this reason that learning how to speak

proper English is so important.

At some point in our lives, we will all be required to give a speech about something. Speech

classes are a normal subject for elementary schools, and they will also be offered in high schools as

well. More often than not, the first speech most of us have to give is in front of our classmates. Once

you go to college, you may also take classes where you are required to speak before a group. This

training is highly important, and you should not take it for granted. Even if you don't like public

speaking, it is a chance where you can share your ideas with others. If you have an idea, and you

need support for it, public speaking is one of the best ways to get it.

The Fundamentals of Public Speaking

When it comes to public speaking, learning how to read and write is fairly easy.

If you know out 2,000 different words, you will have the key ingredients that will allow you to speak

properly. However, the real challenge comes being able to say things in the right manner. The first

thing you will need to do is know your audience. Even if you have a sizeable vocabulary, if your

audience doesn't understand what you are trying to say, you won't be able to drive home certain

points. Your audience may become bored, or they could become confused. You will want to avoid

putting yourself in a situation like this. Those who are good with public speaking will generally be

people that are highly adaptable. They know what to say, and they know when to say it. Having

70,000 words in your vocabulary won't do you much good if your audience doesn't understand what

you are trying to say.

If you are giving a speech at an industry meeting, it makes a lot of sense to use industry words and

jargon. In a situation like this, the audience will be familiar with these terms. However, if you are

speaking to an audience who is not familiar with your industry jargon, you must avoid using it at all

costs.

Proper English

Why is so important with Public Speaking When you give a speech, the things you say, and the

ways in which you say it will play an important role in whether or not people will be receptive to

your ideas.

Suppose you are giving a speech where you are trying to raise money. Or perhaps you are trying to

convince an investor that your idea will allow them to become wealthier. In both of these scenarios,

you can't afford not to drive home your point. You can't afford to confuse the people that listen to

you. If you do so, you will lose the chance to make money, and your credibility will be gone. Once

you lose you're credibility, you're in a lot of trouble. International English International English is a

phenomenon that deals with the English language being spoken on a global scale.

International English will come in a wide variety of dialects, and it is moving in the direction of a

standard that must be used in countries around the globe. Because of cultural differences in various

countries, whether or not this standard will be reached is up for debate. International English may

also be known as Global English or Standard English. Like many languages, English has continued

to evolve over the centuries. While it originated in Western Europe, the guage has gone through

many changes. Some of these changes include Middle English, Modern English, and Early English.

Because Great Britain became such a powerful country by the end of the Middle Ages, its influence

spread throughout the world. While much of this influence was imperialistic, it allowed the English
language to become widespread. In addition to this, the rapid rise of the United States in the 19th and

20th centuries also allowed English to be adopted on a global scale. Today, English is spoken in

countries such as India and China, and English peaking teachers are in great demand in countries

such as Japan.

Why International English is Important

There are a number of reasons why International English has become so important in the 21st

century. Perhaps one of the most important is globalization and outsourcing. Since many of the

world's most powerful corporations are based in countries such as the United States and Great

Britain, there is a high demand for people in foreign countries who can speak English. Because

English is a prominent language in countries such as India, many transnational corporations have

chosen the country for outsourcing. China is the same. The adoption of English has made China an

attractive location for Fortune 500 companies.

Many people in India and China realize that there are lucrative career opportunities available if they

are able to learn English. This is why the language has become so important. While people in the

United States often take the English language for granted, those living in India or China know that

learning the language can open up a large number of career opportunities. In addition to India and

China, many people in Africa are learning the language as well. As transnational corporations

compete against each other in China and India, more companies will focus their attention on Africa

and South America, since the competition will be less.

There are Endless Opportunities for Those Who Learn International English. There is no

limit to the amount of money you can make if you learn International English. You could work as a

PA, programmer, architect, engineer, or an artist. The list just goes on. Companies will hire English

speakers quickly, because there are few communication barriers. Those living in India who is able to

speak good English can earn salaries which are 50% higher than their non English speaking

counterparts. As you can see, if you want to be successful, there is no question in whether or not you

should learn English. Once you learn it, you will make yourself much more competitive in the job

market.

Globalization is an element that is bringing about change in the world. While many people criticize

it, you must prepare for it. Not preparing for change will only cause you to get left behind. Whether

you agree with globalization or not, a failure to prepare for it can lead to disaster. Whether you are

living in China, or the United States, gaining a strong command of the English language will allow

you to separate yourself for your peers, and you will increase your chances of success.

Strategies You Can Use to Enhance Your Vocabulary

To improve your vocabulary, you must have a game plan. The best way to get this game plan is

to develop strategies that can lead you to success. Reading is the foundation that will allow you to

increase your skills. When you seek out information on your own by reading, you are referred to as

being an active learner. Many students increase their vocabulary by participating in class reading

projects. The first strategy in building your vocabulary is to comprehend what you read.

When many people read books or papers, they are just going through the motions. Once they're

done reading, they don't know much more than they did when they started. The reason for this is
because they didn't take the time to comprehend the information they read. You can empower

your vocabulary by increasing the words that you're able to recognize. As you do this, you will find

that it becomes faster and easier to read, even when you are covering material that is complex. There

is a direct correlation between how much you read and the size of your vocabulary. The people who

read the most are generally the people who will have the greatest vocabulary skill. Below are some

strategies that you can use the maximum your vocabulary capabilities. Each strategy will be

sufficient for various situations.

Looking at the Context

This is the first strategy that can allow you to become a master at building up your vocabulary. With

this strategy, you can learn what a word means by the context of the word in the manuscript. If you

read a word that you don't understand, you will often find that the words which surround this word

will often tell you what it means. It is important to realize that looking at the context can be further

broken down into three additional methods. These methods are synonyms, comparison clues, and the

definition. The definition is the easiest to use. The author will tell you what the word means, and it

will be done on the same page where the word appears.

With the synonym, the author will combine the unknown word with words they are similar to it.

This will help the reader better understand what the word means. With the comparison clue, the

unknown word will be used in conjunction with a word that is familiar.

By comparing the unknown word with the word you know, this can allow you to learn the meaning

of the unknown word. While some books may only use one of these methods, other books may use
all of them. They are very useful in allowing the reader to increase their vocabulary, and the author

takes a vested interest in helping them.

Word Structure

The structure of an unknown word is very important in helping you build up your vocabulary. To

understand this, you must look at the structure of the word, as well as its properties. One method for

doing this is to break the unknown word into parts. If the word is long, this may be somewhat

difficult. Many words are compound, meaning they are two separate words they have been joined

together. By breaking them apart, and looking at them individually, you can see what the word

means. A good example of this would be the word "bookkeeper."

By breaking this word into "book" and "keeper," you can see that a bookkeeper is someone that is a

keeper of books. It must be noted that this works mostly on simple words, and will not work on long

words that are much more complex. You can also determine the meaning of a word by either its

suffix or its prefix.

An example of this word would be "microscope." Another word structure strategy is to break down

words into separate words that you can pronounce. There are a sizeable number of unknown words

that you can figure out by using the word structure strategy. However, there are many situations

where this strategy will not work.

Strategies You Can Use to Enhance Your Vocabulary

your vocabulary. The people who read the most are generally the people who will have the greatest

vocabulary skill. Below are some strategies that you can use the maximize your vocabulary

capabilities. Each strategy will be sufficient for various situations.

Build Up Your Vocabulary While You Read

One of the best ways to build your vocabulary is to read, and read some more. You will want to

read everything you can get your hands on. If you come across a word that you're not familiar with,

you will want to take the time to look it up. While this may be tedious at first, you will want to make

it into a habit. Once you've done it a few times, you will become used to it, and this will help you

increase your vocabulary. In addition to this, reading also improves the way you speak. You will

learn how to properly structure your sentences, and you can say them in a way that makes a lot of

sense. You will also want to be patient. Nothing great was ever accomplished over night. It will take

time for you to build up a powerful vocabulary, and the more you read, the better your vocabulary

will become. It is also essential to develop a love of reading. It is not enough to see reading as a

chore. If you do, you will not be successful.

The people who have the most impressive vocabulary skill are those who look at reading as being

fun or recreational, not a chore that needs to be done. When it comes to building up your vocabulary,

all the methods available can be broken down into two basic categories. These are reading, and

learning formally.

Reading vs Learning

Reading is a method that we are all familiar with. You pick up a book, and you read it. As you come

across words that you don't know, you will look at their context within the sentence, and if this

doesn't work, you will want to look them up in a dictionary. This is the first method of increasing

your vocabulary. The second technique is what I refer to as being the formal method. This is the

method that is used the most in elementary schools. The teacher will give the students a workbook,
or they will be given spelling tests. They will also be tested to determine their comprehension of the

words. There are some teachers that would argue that one method is better

than the other, but in truth, most people use both methods. By using both, you make up for any

weaknesses that may exist in the other method. However, I think that many people would find that

reading is much more fun when compared to the more formal method of learning. No

matter which method you prefer, both are proficient in allowing your vocabulary to become larger.

Having a strong vocabulary will allow you to succeed in multiple areas of your life. You will be able

to convey ideas, and you will convey them well.

Literature Can Enhance Your Vocabulary

You can often tell a lot about a person based on the things they read. If someone reads a lot of

comics, it is safe to assume they enjoy comics stories. If someone reads a lot of science fiction

books, you can also assume that this person enjoys science fiction.

You Are What You Read

Just as you can learn the interests of a person by looking at their personal library, you can also

determine their vocabulary level by looking at the books they read. Someone who has "War and

Peace" in their library is much more likely to have a higher vocabulary than someone who has a

biography written by a celebrity.

To improve your vocabulary, you must be selective in what you read.

While there is nothing wrong with reading mainstream magazines or fictional books, much of this

material is written at a basic level. The publisher and author realize that if these books are too

advanced, it may hurt sales, so they stick to a basic format that most people can understand. While

this may be good for them, it is not that helpful for someone who wants to improve their vocabulary.

To improve your vocabulary, you will want to read a wide variety of material. If you like romance,

try reading science fiction. If you like science fiction, try reading romance.

Reading Advantages

When you limit yourself in the information you read, you may also limit your vocabulary. The

reason for this is because there are certain words that are much more likely to be found in specific

genres. It is also important for you to balance fiction with non-fiction. Many people are either one of

the two extremes. They either read mostly non-fiction, or they only read fiction. It is important to

have balance. While fiction may be entertaining, it is less likely to build your vocabulary than non-

fiction books, which are known for using more complex words. While reading is fun, it is a form of

work. It is work for the writer to write the manuscript, and you will also have to work when reading

it. It has been proven that reading is much more beneficial than watching television. Again, much of

the vocabulary you hear on television is basic, and it may sometimes be vulgar. The broadcasting

companies have little interest in educating their audience. They are more concerned with entertaining

them. Because you have to interface with the information when you read, your brain is actually

exercising, because you have to think. This is why people who frequently read have higher IQ scores

than those who do not.

Reading Makes Improving Your Vocabulary Easier

While many people take formal classes to improve their vocabulary; many people find that these
classes are boring. The teachers will look at it from a technical standpoint, and they will focus on

things such as the structure of the sentence. While there is nothing inherently wrong with this, it can

be very efficient to improve your vocabulary as you read. One of the best ways to do this is by

learning the words within the context of the sentences in which they are used. As you read many

books, you will run across words you are not familiar with. If you find that many of the words in the

book are hard for you to understand, this means the book is written at a level which is higher than

your vocabulary. You will want to read something that is a bit simpler. At the same time, it is

important for you to make sure you don't read a book that is too simple.

If you read books that are written below your vocabulary level, you will not learn anything, and

your vocabulary will not be improved. You must have balance. You must read books that are

challenging, but not so challenging that you're not able to understand most of the words that are

written.

Importance of Vocabulary from an Early Age

Why Vocabulary is an Important Part of Literacy? It can be said that vocabulary is comprised

of three things, and these are writing, reading, and speaking. All three of these elements are used to

make up a larger structure that is called literacy. While literacy has been important ever since

humans first discovered writing, it has become much more important in the information age. More

than ever before, information has been allowed to flow freely. While much of this information is not

very valuable, some of it can enhance your career, make you more productive, and even save your

life. Your vocabulary is the element that will determine your cultural literacy.
When many people think of vocabulary, they think of it as a tedious learning process. However,

it is very vital to your success in our world of today. It is no longer enough to just know what is

happening in your neighborhood, city, or country. It is equally important for you to understand what

is happening on a global scale. Improving your vocabulary from an early age will allow you to

become informed. It will allow you to successfully convey your ideas to others, and it can also

improve your career outlook. Having said that, it is important for parents to focus on improving the

education of their children from an early age.

Teach Children a Love of Reading Early On

It is in the best interests of parents to help their children develop a love for reading early. By

doing this, you will be giving them one of the most precious gifts they could ever ask for. Helping

them build an elaborate vocabulary is much more valuable than any toy, game, or bike you could

buy them. Once they get older, they will be able to follow instructions carefully, because they will be

able to read those instructions. When they write a resume for their job, they will be much more likely

to impress potential employers, since they will have strong vocabulary skills. If they need to give a

speech, or present a business strategy or plan, they will be able to do it professionally, because they

will have a strong vocabulary that will allow them to convey their thoughts. As you can see, building

a good vocabulary is a skill that can mean the difference between success and failure once a child

becomes older.

Both parents and teachers will want to show children that reading is not a chore. It is not something

that "has" to be done. You must show them that it is something that is "fun" to do.
A Failure to Build a Strong Foundation can be Dangerous

There are many people today who think it is cool to be dumb. They think it is impressive to use

slang words, rather than using proper English. These same people are quick to make fun of those

who read a lot. I would first like to say that parents must not convey this message to their children. It

is not cool to be ignorant. In fact, failing to build a strong vocabulary foundation can be dangerous.

Hundreds of years ago, few people could afford books. They were expensive to produce, and the

only people who could afford them were royalty. Because they were the only ones who could afford

these books, they gained knowledge, and with that knowledge became power.

The invention of the printing press dramatically reduced the cost of books, and with the rapid

popularity of the Internet today, information has been allowed to flow freely more than ever before.

While some of this information may not be accurate, it sets the stage where people can gain

knowledge, and improve their lives. With tools such as blogging, it has become popular to spread

ideas.

In addition to the above, not having a strong foundation can hurt your career outlook. If you go to a

job interview, and you use improper English, the chances of you getting hired are very low. If you

type up a resume, and it doesn't use proper English, it will likely end up in the trash. If you have a

term paper to write in college, but you don't have a good vocabulary, you're in lot of trouble.
Various Methods for Teaching Vocabulary

Just as with any skill, those who wish to enhance their vocabulary will need to learn how to read,

speak, and write properly. Generally, when it comes to teaching vocabulary, you will typically be

presented with two options, and these are spelling or phonics. The method that you should use is

dependent on your age and skill. If you are trying to help a first grader improve their vocabulary, you

will want to start with phonics. Starting with phonics will allow you to build a strong foundation.

The child will gain a deep understanding of phonics, and this will give them the skills they need to

start working on spelling.

For older people, improving vocabulary is easier, because most would have already gone through a

formal education. For them, it is a matter of reading more, and learning new words. They should also

learn how to use these new words in the proper way. For children, learning how to spell is difficult if

they do not already have a mastery of phonics.

To teach vocabulary properly, you must have a foundation. The most basic foundation for

vocabulary can be called a root. You will want to learn all the basic roots, and once you've done this,

you can move on to more advanced concepts.

How to Build on the Roots

Once you have gained an advanced knowledge of various roots, you can enhance your vocabulary

study. If you don't master the roots early on, you will have a difficult time with improving your

vocabulary. As you are learning the roots, you will want to touch on the vocabulary a bit. It is

basically an issue of phonics combined with spelling. When these two factors are developed in

conjunction with each other, you have the structure that will allow your vocabulary to become much
more impressive. You have also probably heard people talk about the importance of reading.

Reading is the best way to improve your vocabulary, and it is also fun. You will want to be selective

in the books you choose to read. While many people enjoy reading fiction books, non-fiction books

are much more effective when it comes to enhancing your vocabulary. There

are a number of reasons for this. Fiction books will generally be written for the purpose of

entertainment.

While they can allow a person to increase their vocabulary much more than someone who doesn't

read, they will not help you as much as non-fiction books. Non-fiction books tend to be written on

concepts that are challenging, and their tone is more formal.

Why Workbooks may not be helpful in Vocabulary Enhancement

A number of teachers have said that they are not impressed with the efficiency of workbooks. The

best way for someone to improve their vocabulary is by reading words and using them daily on a

regular basis. The student has to be exposed to these words multiple times. There is not guarantee

that workbooks can guarantee retention.

If the student fills out the workbook, and they never use it again. it could be argued that the book

was not helpful. Even tests have become subject to criticism. Most students will memorize the word

before the test, and after they've taken it, they will forget about it.

I should note that I'm not trying to imply that studying vocabulary independently will guarantee

success. However, improving your vocabulary from the things you read is very important. For
example, if you are reading a book that deals with a scientific subject, the definition of various terms

should be noted in that book. If you are reading a fiction book, and an uncommon term is used, a

definition of that term should be listed. Many authors are now doing this in both

fiction and non-fiction books. Placing words within the text increases the chances that the word will

be retained.

Importance of English in International Business

While English is not the most widely spoken language in the world when you look at it in terms of

the number of native speakers, it is the world's most prominent language. While a larger number of

people speak Chinese, that language is largely confined to China.

English on the other hand, is spoken around the world. It has been estimated that out of the roughly

6 billion people that are alive today about 350 million speak English. When you look at the

importance of English for International Business, you must look at more than just the number of

people who speak it. You must also look at what the language is used for.

English is the ideal language for many governments around the world, and it is also prominent in

business, education, world news, and communication. In addition to this, Western pop culture is also

carried to foreign countries in the form of music or movies. If you wish to be successful in

International business, learning English is incredibly important. In many places such as Asia, Africa,

and South America, the ability to learn English will determine who will increase their living

standards, and who will remain in poverty. There are a number of powerful tools that have allowed
more people to learn English than ever before. One of these tools is the Internet.

The Power of the Internet in Spreading English

Before the Internet, it was hard for you to learn English if you didn't attend a college or university.

These were the only institutions where the language was widely spoken. If you lived in a community

so poor that it didn't have a college or university, your chances of ever learning English were remote.

While many people still live in these circumstances today, the Internet has allowed the English

language to spread around the word. Because the Internet was invented in the West, English was

inherently built into it. Because Internet usage has expanded throughout the world, more people are

being exposed to English.

The advent of online universities has now made it possible for more people to learn English, people

who may live in countries where access to standard education facilities is limited. While it may have

been impossible for these people to learn English in the past, the Internet has opened up new career

opportunities. These people are now able to learn English, and they can use their English skills to get

better paying jobs at home, or they can use them to find jobs overseas. In

any event, the Internet has played a powerful role in allowing English to spread across the world,

and the number of people learning it is likely to increase in the future.

The Importance of English for Business

Many companies have discovered early in the 21st century that they can cut their costs of

production by sending their jobs overseas. The proper term for this is outsourcing, or off shoring.

Some companies have also found that they can cut costs by bringing immigrants into the country on

work visas. The employees will work for the company for a given period of time, and once their visa

has expired, they can return home. For someone living in a country where English is not the native

language, they will need to master this language if they wish to travel to the United States to find a

high paying job. While many people in English speaking countries complain about the impact of

outsourcing, it presents lucrative opportunities for people living in foreign countries. Learning how

to speak English can allow you to travel to a Western country, work there for a few months, make

more money than you would make at home, and then bring the money back home to your family.

This is a practice that many people use, and it is factors such as outsourcing which have allowed

them to do it. As you can see, learning how to speak English opened up a large number of doors,

doors that would normally be closed.

Increase your Job Outlook on Global Scale

The advent of both globalization and outsourcing are factors that are changing the world. These

elements have allowed the world to become much more interconnected, and the differences between

cultures which existed in the past have largely been reduced. While many people feel

that these elements are threatening the individuality of cultures around the world, a number of

opportunities have emerged.

Those who are able to take advantage of these opportunities are much more likely to become

successful. If you don't take advantage of these opportunities, your future will be filled with

uncertainty.

If you are living in a country that doesn't use English as the native language, you must do

everything in your power to learn it. Studies consistently show that people who learn how to speak

English are much more likely to increase their social mobility, moving from the bottom

of the economic scale.

While many people living in western countries may think that English is not importantly, they are

greatly mistaken. Being able to have a high command of the English language is important whether

you're an American citizen, or a citizen in India. Either way, not learning how to use the language

properly can lead to disaster.

Important things you should consider

No matter which part of the world you're living in, you must be prepared for globalization.

Many people are finding themselves unemployed, because they didn't take the time to analyze

globalization, and the effects it will have on the world. As with any global change, there will be

winners, and there will be losers. You have to decide which one you want to be. Learning how to use

English properly is the first step in being a winner. You will be able to share your ideas with other

educated people, and your career options will blossom like a flower. If you are the owner of a

business, you can use your English skills to communicate with people who are living in foreign

countries. If you are living in a foreign country, you will have more appeal with corporations that
may be outsourcing in your area. By becoming skilled with the English language, you can increase

your job outlook, and if you are currently at the bottom of the social pyramid, you will be

able to work your way upwards.

Many people in the West spend too much time complaining about the impact of outsourcing. They

talk about all the jobs that are lost, and they talk about the effects on the national economy. While

these concerns may be valid, you can't stop a multinational corporation from taking its operations

overseas. All the protesting in the world won't mean a thing.

Prepare for Globalization by learning English

The best way to deal with globalization is to become a master of the English language. If you are

living in China, you will want to learn how to speak the language fluently. If you are living in the

United States, on the other side of the Pacific, you will want not expand your vocabulary, and

increase your English skills more than the average American. To survive, you must be able to adopt.

If you cannot adopt, you will fall victim to the same fate that the dinosaurs fell victim to: You will

become economically extinct. Becoming skilled in the English language will give you the foundation

that you will need. The same can be said for people who are living in foreign countries. More often

than not, the stakes are higher, but the rewards are higher as well. The salary that you can expect to

earn by mastering English is much higher than you can imagine. While the people around you

continue to work for lower wages, your wages will increase in an exponential fashion, and you will

be able to live the lifestyle of your dreams.

To survive the impact of globalization, you must understand. You must know the players, and you

must know the strategies you will need to win. Being in the dark will only put you in a perilous

position.

Enhancing Your Vocabulary

In this English Vocabulary article you will learn how to enhance your vocabulary, how reading is a

crucial part of enhancing your vocabulary, knowing when to use the right vocabulary, questions that

you must ask yourself before you use various words and tips for vocabulary mastery.

Knowing When To Use The Right Vocabulary

As you begin to improve your vocabulary, it is very important for you to learn when and

how to use it. Knowing a large word is not enough to showcase your skill. You must also be able to

know when and how that word should be used. If you use the word in the wrong way, it may not

make sense, or it could be taken out of context. It is also important for you to know your audience,

and be familiar with the type of vocabulary they will be able to identify with. Once you understand

this, you will be able to adjust your words to suit the situation. To enhance your selection of words,

you should make it your goal to learn a new word each day.

Have you ever heard someone use a fancy word, but you could tell that they didn't

know how to use it? This can be quite humiliating. One thing that I must emphasize to you is that

using a fancy word improperly is just as bad as having poor grammar. When you do this, it becomes

apparent that you are "trying" to sound intelligent and well informed, and people will be able to see

through you like glass. If you don't know how to use a word properly, it is best for you not to use it

all. You will save yourself a lot of headaches and humiliation. If you use fancy words improperly,
some people will correct you, and this can be one of the most embarrassing situations you can find

yourself in.

Questions That You Must Ask Yourself Before You Use Various Words

Before you use a specific word, whether it is written or spoken, you will want to take the time to ask

yourself a few questions.

It is necessary for you to use the words?

Should you focus on using words that are specific to your industry?

Is this the right audience for me to direct these words?

How can I enhance my vocabulary even more?

Being able to answer these questions properly will play a role in the success of your vocabulary.

Many people fail to improve their vocabulary because they cannot answer these questions.

Sometimes, it is not necessary for you to use certain words. When you use a big word, it should flow

naturally. This goes for when you are speaking as well as when you are writing. The people who

listen to you can tell when the word doesn't flow naturally. They can also detect this when they read

your writing. To become a master at using your vocabulary properly, you must know when to use

words, and when not to use them. If you are speaking to an audience that is not a part of your

industry, you should avoid the use of industry specific words. If you are talking to a group of highly

educated people, you should use an elaborate vocabulary.

Tips For Vocabulary Mastery

However, if you are talking to ordinary people, you should use words that are less elaborate. This

does not mean that you should talk to them like they are stupid. This will come across as insulting.

Rather, you will want to speak to them in a manner that is easy for them to understand. A person

who is skilled with their vocabulary can be likened to a chameleon. Just as the chameleon can blend

in to its surroundings, a person with a good vocabulary can blend in to their surroundings as well.

Becoming like a chameleon is an important part of mastering your vocabulary, and you will want to

learn it. One of the most important things that you must remember is that using fancy words is not

enough. It will not show that you have a good vocabulary. If anything, you will look awkward,

especially if the words are not used in the right context. If you have a good vocabulary, but you

direct it to the wrong audience, you can miss the points that you were trying to convey. If you are a

writer, and you write papers or books that are full of industry jargon, you will alienate anyone who is

not a part of that industry. While this may be desirable if that is your goal, you will not be successful

if you are trying to reach laymen.

Why Improving Your Vocabulary Can Enhance Your Life

There are a number of reasons why you will want to improve your vocabulary. You will feel good

about yourself, because you will have a larger command of your language. It has also been shown

that improving your vocabulary can greatly increase your IQ. In addition to this, there are many

practical benefits you can gain by improving your vocabulary.

Perhaps the best benefit is being able to communicate your ideas to people in a much more effective

manner. While most of us are aware of the fact that others will judge us based on our outward
appearance, it should also be noted that people will judge you by the way you speak.

Speaking with a poor vocabulary can cause people to look down on you.

Vocabulary is an element that people will use to judge your intelligence. When you speak to

someone, and you properly use words that are not spoken daily by the average person, you will

convey the impression that you are a person that is educated and well read. You will also show that

you are great at carrying on a conversation. However, it must be emphasized that having a good

vocabulary involve more than just being able to use fancy words when you speak. Vocabulary is

crucial because it is directly related to language.

The Importance of Language, and How It Relates to Vocabulary

Our language is the words and phrases we use to communicate with each other. Each language

in the world may have tens of thousands of words, if not hundreds of thousands. The more words

that you know out of your language, the more eloquently you will be able to communicate your

ideas to people. By being able to effectively communicate your ideas to people, you can open up a

number of doors, especially when it comes to your career. There are a number of ways that you can

improve your vocabulary. From the time you start going to school until you graduate, you will be

required to take classes that improve your vocabulary. Most of these classes will teach you the

basics. They will show you word structure, the proper way to read, and the proper way to write.

While this is important, it is only the beginning. The path to improving your vocabulary will require

you to do more. Many people graduate from high school thinking that they have learned all they
need to know. This is not correct. You can never learn everything that exists in this world, and

learning is a lifelong experience. Whether you are graduating from high school or from college, it

should be your goal to continue improving your vocabulary.

How Reading is a Simple Way to Improve Your Vocabulary

One of the best and most simple ways to improve your vocabulary is to read. While this may sound

like common sense, it is not. Many people don't read as much as they should, and when they do, it is

something that doesn't improve their vocabulary. Reading a tabloid or a fashion magazine will do

little to improve your vocabulary. There are a number of reasons for this. First, more often than not,

many of the companies who own these publications do not have a vested interest in helping their

readers improve their vocabulary. Instead, they are more interested in spreading gossip, or selling

products. If you don't believe this, all you have to do is pick up the tabloids and read them the next

time you're out shopping. What you will find is that the information is written at a basic level. No

attempts are made to challenge the reader. You will not improve your vocabulary by reading these

manuscripts. When I say read, I'm referring to books that are actually challenging, books that use

words and concepts that are not found in your everyday language. These are the types of books that

will improve your vocabulary.

It is better to build a dictionary of words you come across as you read. If the word interests you,

write it down, and when you're done reading, look it up in a dictionary, and list it in your notebook.

You may also want to write a sentence that shows how the word should be used. If you do this each

time you come across an unfamiliar word when you read, your vocabulary will become massive.

As you collect words and place them in your personalized dictionary, you will want to go over them

often. You will want to make it your goal to use them at least once a day when you speak, or when

you write a paper. The more you use the word, the more likely it is that you will remember it. Just

placing the word in your dictionary is not enough.

Flashcards have always been a

popular method to help people remember important information. This is especially true when you

want to increase you vocabulary level.

Instead of just saying the word, you will want to hear the word, see the word, and write it down.
