You often hear about intuition. It has been call things such as women¶s intuition, insight, instinct, precognition, tacit knowledge, unconscious mind, and so on. It all basically means thoughts or ideas that cometo mind quickly, without previous thought. You just seemto know it.I am a big believer in intuition. It has saved countless livesin combat and other situations because the personsensed/knew something was wrong and took the steps to protect themselves. Intuition has helped people in their business to make the right decisions for success. A lot of the scientific discoveries have come from scientists pursuinga line of research due to their intuition.Intuition comes from a couple things.First I believe in the idea that we carry genetic memoriesfrom eons of development as hunter-gathers. Gavin de Becker talks about this very well in his book ³The Gift of Fear .´ DeBecker talks about how when someone feels fear there is a reasonthe person should be afraid e.g. a woman walking in a lonely parking garage at night. Thisfeeling comes from the past where predators might be lurking behind the next rock. DeBecker reminds us that many us of tend to dismiss such feelings in the modern world. He wants us tounderstand what are causing these feelings of fear and be aware of what circumstances that weare presently experiencing that may cause us harm.Intuition also comes from the knowledge that we are carrying around in our head, our pastexperiences, instruction, feelings, basically everything that has every happened to us. Thewonderful supercomputer that is our brain is constantly analyzing all this and comparing it towhat we are presently experiencing to give us a frame of reference. This is where we can helpdevelop our intuitive ability. These memories/data points both genetic and historical sometimes combined with spiritualintervention give us what is know as intuition. There is an old computer programmers saying Garbage In Garbage Out. How can we have ontarget intuition if we are not developing ourselves and constantly putting good ³data´ inside.Only by putting in information that has proven successful can we have intuition that will lead usto successful outcomes. Biographies of famous, successful people, ho-to books, positive fictioncan all contribute to the growth of our intuition. All this information is sort of like puzzle pieces that our brain fits together to predict what isgoing to occur. By recognizing what is going on in our heads and what contributes to our intuition we can start to harness this tremendous resource we have at our disposal.
