THE ABC’S OF A HAPPY MARRIAGE
Written and edited By Glenn Pease
INTRODUCTION

God is triune as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and all that he hascreated takes after his nature, which is omniscient, omnipresent, andomnipotent. For example,Time is past, present and future.Matter is animal, mineral and vegetable.Space is above, level and below, or heaven, earth and hell.Highest virtues are faith, hope and love.A complete family is father, mother and child.Three is the number of completeness, and so I have divided thisbook into three sections with each section divided into three chapters. It does not, in fact, cover all that can be covered for happiness in amarriage, but it does cover the most basic factors. Any couple whowill live in applying the truths involved in this triune plan for a happymarriage, will be happy.CONTENTS

A 1. ACCEPTANCE OF GOD’S PLAN“According to annual surveys conducted across theUnited States, "Most people say that having a goodmarriage is one of the most important goals in life, and noother variable is more predictive of the health, happiness, and general well-being of adults than whether or not theyare in satisfactory marriages" (Glenn, 1996, p. 15).Currently, approximately 45 percent of all first-timemarriages end in divorce, yet about 60 percent of those whodivorce remarry. These statistics confirm that people have atremendous need to love and to be loved. Every human beingwas formed by the Creator with a deep need and longing to

be in relationship—first with God and then with anotherhuman being. We can clearly see in the Bible that love andrelationships are central to God's plan for humankind. Godwants to restore oneness between us and Him, and therelationship which most closely reflects our relationship withHim is the marital relationship.”ADAM AND EVEGod was the first Adam splitter. The result was Eveexploded on the scene and woman has ever since beenhaving explosive effects on man. Marriage is the result of theworlds first surgery. God was the first surgeon and Adamthe first patient, and Eve the first thing to ever be removedby surgery. The whole thing was quite an operation. Thedoctor actually provided his patient with a nurse out of hisown body, for he created Eve to be his helper. So the Gardenof Eden was the first surgical ward where all humanrelationships began. The point of all surgery is to putsomething in or take something out that makes for betterhealth, and Eve was just the medicine Adam needed. Thefirst purpose of marriage is completeness. Adam needed Eveto be complete and whole. Marriage is not the only waytoday to solve the need for companionship and completeness, for today we have the choice of friends and family, and evenfellow workers, that can meet our needs for relating. Butmarriage is still the primary means by which we meet thisneed, for it is the relationship with the deepest intimacy. If we accept God’s purpose for providing a mate for
