Understanding Java Map interface andthere subclasses in Java
Java is one of the popular application programming languagebecause of its various capabilities such as platformindependence, security and object oriented capability butapart form these main capability what java provides isextensive in built library for various application programmingneed and one of them are java collection API which providesHashMap, ArrayList, LinkedList and various other collectionclasses. In Java Collection is used to refer those classeswhich hold or contains other objects. These collectionclasses are based on various data structure e.g., Array,LinkedList and Map. In this article we will discuss variouscollection classes based on Map interface and HashMap datastructure. Order of the map is the order on which theIterator on the map's collection views returns theirconstituents. Iterator is an object that is used tofetch objects from Collection within a loop. Some Mapimplementations for instance TreeMap preserves there orderbecause they are implemented from SortedMap and others, like HashMap doesn't keep any order. To look more onhowHashMap store values in Javacheck on link.Java store its collection classes in java.util package andgives one interface called Map. Map provides commonpossible operation in any kind of Map structure for instanceget and put operation. In Java a map cannot store anyduplicate keys and every key can map to at most one value.Java supply many implementation of Map interface andthese implementations are also available in java.utilpackage. Some of general purpose Map implementations areTreeMap, HashMap, LinkedHashMap and IdentityHashMap. AMap is as data structure which is used to store data in formof key value pair for easy retrieval. Map is based on hashingtechnique and provides fastest access to stored locationcalled bucket and based on efficiency of hashing algorithm
