Asia's leading media, marketing and advertising publication, Media, in conjunction with TNS, has
released Asia's Top 1,000 Brands survey for 2010.
Geographical coverage
The survey presents an overview of the local and global brands consumers think most highly of
across sectors and geographies.
In total, over 3,300 people across 10 markets in the region were interviewed including consumers
from Australia, China, India, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and
Thailand.
Methodology
To determine the best brands in each of the product and service categories covered by the survey,
respondents were asked two questions:
When you think of [product / service] category, which is the best brand that comes to your
mind? By best, we mean the one that you trust the most or the one that has the best reputation
in [product / service] category.
Apart from the best brand that you entered, which brand do you consider to be the second-best
brand in the [product / service] category?
The survey covered 12 major product and service categories across a total of 80 sub-categories.
The main categories presented to each respondent included: alcohol & tobacco; financial
services; automotive; retail; restaurants; food; beverage; consumer electronics; computer
hardware & software; media & telecommunications; travel & leisure, and household & personal
care products.
