Report of a Seminar:

An awareness creating seminar was held on 4 th Feb, 09 in FAST-NU Islamabad

Campus. The speaker was a well know analyst Mr. Zaid Hamid. The participants
were the students and faculty members of the university.

The purpose of the seminar was to create awareness among the youth. And to
make them believe that as an individual they do matter a lot. They are the
Pakistan’s future and it’s destiny is in their hands now.

He, Zaid Hamid, while addressing to the students, stressed on upholding their
self-respect, dignity, and honor. He told them never to compromise over these
things. He quoted many stanzas of Allama Iqbal. Like;
~ Khudi ko kar buland itna k her tqdeer se pehle
Khuda bande se khud puche bta teri rza kya hai?
He advised them that they should be dignified and strong enough to say ‘I will
create my own destiny’. Allah will indeed help them.
He also said that whole world is after Pakistan. The reason is simple, Pakistani
nation has guts. He told never to underestimate the strong Pakistanis. Then he
also mentioned that people say, ‘what has Pakistan given us that we should give
it anything’? He replied this thing and said; always remember that the giving
hand is better than the getting hand. Their country deserves every possible thing.
It gave them identity, it’s their home. They should be ready to die for it.

He said that to be spanked is not the real issue, it’s a normal thing. The real thing
is to see in the eyes of enemies with confident and honor, even after getting slap.
He advised them to get molded into a strong and dignified nation. He also
directed them towards Allama Iqbal. He said Allama Iqbal’s poetry has wonders in
it, try to read, understand and implement it.

Later he answered many queries of the students which included more advices
with more clarity. At the end of the seminar, the Director of the FAST-NU
Islamabad Campus, Dr. Aftab A. Maroof, thanked Mr. Zaid Hamid and presented
him a shield.
