8:30 Attendance and Lunch Count

Please have the students vote for the lunch choices. Read to them the choices
and remind them to vote. After it looks like everyone has voted, look in the
black tray by the voting poster. Read the names in the tray and ask if those
students are here. If they are, have them vote. If they are not there, take
those names and match them to the class list on my desk. Write down their first
and last name on the attendance slip. Count how many students are having
choice one and choice two. Ask any student if they have lunch money. If so,
put it in the orange lunch envelope. Send Conner to take the attendance and
lunch money down to the office.
*John goes to resource at 8:30am

8:30- 9:00 Journals Students should have their journals out and should be
writing on their own. After they have written their journal entry, they must
illustrate it. When they are finished, they need to come get it checked off
(have them read it to you). Make sure they are using punctuation,
capitalization, and that they have legible handwriting. Put a smiley face on it
when they get it checked off. When they are finished, they may use the marker
boards to write words from the calendar or from the flash cards.

9:00-9:10 Monitored Independent Reading- Tell the students to quietly go

back to their seats and get a book from their reading basket in the reading
corner. They need to read their book quietly to themselves 2 times before
getting another book. This is a quiet independent reading time….No talking ;)
9:10-9:20-Story Have the students clean up and go to corner rug.
Read the book: Froggy Goes to Bed
After the book, talk about what happened at the beginning, middle, and end
(ask the students to raise their hand if they know what happened in the
beginning, middle and then end).

9:20- Workshop and Centers- This is an independent QUIET

time for them to work. You might have to remind them of this.

While the students are at their desks, explain all of the workshop before they
begin. They are already on the board for you to explain one by one. Do an
example for each one.(usually I use the document camera and projector, but
you will not)
1. Going swimming- write in the missing numbers
2. Two batches- Cut the shapes out and glue on the correct fraction.
3. The Finishing Touches- Look at each picture and write the word under the
correct paint can. Then color by the code.

Hand the 1st workshop out and put the rest on the front table with the blue
(smarty pants) basket on it. When they are finished they will put their
workshop in the turn in bin (except the one that needs to dry) and may go to
centers. They know what to do for centers.
*I have a parent that comes in to tutor Addison and Joseph. She
will just come in and call them out in the hall.

10:25- Clean up for recess- Have the students clean up their game and
return to their seats. Call the students by their table names to line up for recess
(10:30am)

10:30- Recess- when the recess bell rings, go ahead and let them walk
themselves out to recess. There will be another teacher out there so you do not
have to go. There should be a green bucket in the back of the room filled with
a snack. Place the snack on each of the student’s desk while they are at recess.
If there is not a bucket, there should be extra snacks in the far right closet or
above the sink.
(John will come back for recess and then needs to take his snack with him back
to resource at 10:40)

10:45-10:55 Snack -The students will go straight to their desks and are not
allowed to touch their snacks. You can call them by tables to wash their hands.
The tables are bugs that are magnetized to the edge of their desks.
10:55- Have the student throw away their snack and meet at calendar.

10:55- 11:10- Calendar . After the students sit, ask one student to help you.
One student will get the wand and the class will count the months of the year.
Then, they will say the months of the year. Push play on the CD player,
song #1
That student can ask for another student to volunteer. Now they will
move over to the large calendar and count to the date. So if it is the 7th, the
student will stop on 7. After they stop on the number they move up and tell the
student to "crash into a word". Have the student tell you today’s day. What will
tomorrow be? What day was yesterday?
Now that student picks a stick from the green “Calendar Quiz”. If they can
read it, they will read it to the class-if not, you can read it. They will call on
someone to answer the calendar quiz.
That student can ask for another student to help. This student will count
the days of the week with the class. Then they will say the days of the week with
the class as they point. Turn CD play to song #2-They usually only sing it once,
but just play the whole song That student will find what day was yesterday, what
day is today, and what day tomorrow will be by finding them in the ziplock bag.
While they are doing that the class will sing the “Days of the Week” song. Then
the class will read it together while the helper points (Yesterday was____, today
is ______, and tomorrow will be _____.)
That student can ask for another student to help. This student will tell us
what the weather is. After the student is chosen you will start singing the
weather song (they will sing it, you don't even have to sing it). "What's the
weather, what's the weather, what's the weather like today? Can you tell me,
can you tell me, what's the weather like today?" It is to the tune of "Oh My
Darlin'". The student will pull out the weather options and the class will clap for
which weather they think it is today. That student then puts a tally next to the
correct weather for the day. Then that class reads what weather it is today.
That student may ask another student to come up. Play song #3 on the
CD player. They only sing the 1st verse, so after the chorus goes twice, stop the
music…you will know when to stop because the students will start laughing because
they have never heard the rest of the song. Have them point to the coins and
the whole class will say the name of the coin, then have the students say the
amounts of the coin. The students count the piggy bank and will raise their hand
when they know the answer.
Another student will be picked. Now have them add another straw to the
pocket, change the number on the chart, write the number, and add number
word. That student will ask if anyone has lost a tooth, if someone has, tell them
we will sing to them later today when I get back.
*Have the students turned towards the easel when you are finished with
calendar.

11:10-VIP Call Adam up to the front. Have the students give Adam the
“Seal of Approval”. Stay at corner rug for the writing because you need to read
the book and explain the activity.

11:10-11:35 Writing –See lesson plans tab

11: 35ish-11:45 Wordwall Bingo- Pass out the bingo worksheet and have the
students write 9 wordwall words on their board (they have to all be different). Call
out a word from the wordwall and write it on the board (after the students have
already found it on their board) and the students will circle that word on their boards.
Keep going until a student shouts "bingo"! Have that student read the words to you
that they got bingo for. Give them a smarty pants ticket for getting bingo! Play
again, but this time have the students underline the words. They cannot count their
circled words towards this rounds bingo.

11:45 Clean up for Rotations- Have the students clean up and put
their heads on their desk. Call them by rotation colors to line up at the door
(Green, Blue, Yellow). They line up in the hall. You will be going with the group
that has PE today (yellow group) and you need to take them back to our
classroom.
11:50-12:25 Rotations- PE- workout video: Take your group to our
classroom. Turn the TV on and push play. Have the students spread out around
the classroom and follow the video.
*When the video is over, if there is time you can have them sit by the calendar
and you can read them the book: One Lonely Sea Horse (I doubt there will be
time, but just in case)
When it is 12:25pm line the students up at the door and ask them to walk back
to their class quietly. Some of the students in this group will stay because they
are your students.

12:25-1:10 Lunch Make sure all of the students are back from rotations.
Wash hands (or let them use the hand sanitizer) and line up for lunch
according to what they are having. Have the students having choice one go first
in line one, then choice two next, and lastly the cold lunch students. The "Lunch
Count" job will get the lunch basket and bring it to the cafeteria. When you
get to the cafeteria tell the students which lunch is in which line (It tells you that
on the front entrance of the cafeteria). You need to get Mrs. Smith’s yellow
name plates for the lunch tables so the children know where to sit. Those are
right as you walk in on the wall to the right. Place the name plates on the next
available seats (we get a whole table and half of another table). Wait for the
students to get seated and then you may eat lunch in the faculty lounge or the
classroom. (refer to office/lunch procedures for more information)

1:15-Read a loud The students will return to class and may get a drink. Read
aloud the book, where I left the bookmark. The students sit at the carpet as you
read to them. Read for 10 minutes or until the end of the chapter.

1:25-2:15 Math See Lesson plan tab

2:15—2:25 Recess- Have the students line up quietly for recess by tables.
They can walk themselves to recess so just dismiss them at this time. You do not
have to go out with them to recess.

2:30- Theme (See theme lesson plan in lessons tab)

3:15- Clean up- Show the students the Hawk 200 club ticket. Tell
them that the student that cleans up the quietest will get it (when
they are done cleaning up, choose someone to win the ticket and
fill it out for them) Have the students clean up and go to their desks. Send
down the lunch leaders to go to get the lunch basket. Have the students do
their jobs and check their cubbies QUIETLY. They know what their job is, if not,
they can look at the job chart by the flag.

Make sure to give Joshua the snack bucket before they go home.

3:20 Stickers- Tell them to get out their Manners charts. Give them a
sticker on their hand if they got a green card (If their chart is filled up tell them
to wait until tomorrow to pick a prize). Have them line up when they get their
sticker.
3:25 Dismiss – Give the students a high five as they go out the door!
Thank you!
